sgtshenanigans 1 The game against Florida State was tight all game more so than it probably should have been. I can chalk that up to being a rivalry game and the Noles playing up in a rivalry game. However, I wouldn't be surprised if this is showing some weakness for Miami. Still Miami is undefeated at a point in the season when most teams have at least one loss. So Miami gets the top spot.

Doogitywoogity 2 Listen Miami, there are times where yall look legit and like real contenders, and there’s allot of other times where you look like you’re incredibly lucky to have a schedule where your only test so far has been Wake. Keep winning and you’ll probably be fine but good lord the amount the refs bailed you out vs FSU is embarrassing for a top tier team. Pitt has died so unless you get lost in Belichick’s man boobs ND is all you’ve got left.

Aside from a surprisingly stout Wake Forest roster and feasting upon Clemson's decaying corpse in the NIL era, there hasn't been too much to write home about the Hurricanes so far until this past weekend. Perhaps it was rivalry game shenanigans, perhaps it was Norvell pulling off a coaching masterclass to save his job, but whatever it was, a dramatic double-OT winner vs Florida State (assisted again by the ACC refs not knowing what holding is or how simultaneous possession works) helps knock down their ratings just enough for BYU to jump them. They're still a very good team and may be able to jump into #1 before a fateful showdown in South Bend with the Fighting Irish in a few weeks' time.

Xy13 2 Miami would've regained their #1 ranking, but they went to double, nearly triple overtime against unranked FSU. It was a rivalry game, and they did look good in the game, but it should never have been that close.

What an epic game though, shame it had a Refball ending. FSU makes 2 hail marys in a row on 4th down...

Also terrible replay booth, they clearly went in to prove the narrative they wanted "we all agree this is an interception, -right?-" - It was either caught by FSU's Duce Robinson, or it was a contested catch, in which case it goes to the offense. In no way was it an inteception. The FSU WR had 2 hands on the ball the entire time. It landed in the defenders stomach, yes, but when he hit the ground you saw his arms come up off the ball.

Zloggt 2 ...tbh, I do think the Miami WOULD beat BYU on a neutral-site, but needing 2 OT + extra zebra help to get past Florida State at home does NOT impress me as much...

Maladroit44 3 Do I believe that game was rigged? Eh, not really. Both of the 4th down calls were 50/50s that could excusably go either way (even if I have some questions about why the term "simultaneous possession" never came up in the ACC review room). But for one thing, I think it's hard to argue that those calls would've gone against Miami if the roles were reversed (see the "win" over VT two years ago); and for another, even taking the win at face value, it was a *very* ugly win. To me, it's hard to justify jumping a team to #1 when they have just one ranked victory and showed massive deficiencies this week. The jury's out for another three weeks until they head to South Bend. Speaking of which...

StFuzzySlippers 3 There is a big difference between winning in regulation and winning in OT2, especially when the quality of opponents is as wide as FSU and ND. They just didn't look as dominant as we've been led to believe they should be, so I'm left feeling like they still have something to prove.

ChBass 7 Barely undefeated Miami survived a Seminole scare and makes it here. Their best win so far is still Wake Forest, and their one chance to jump people here is when they face Notre Dame next month.
dukemetoo 7 I only saw the last quarter/OT of the game against Florida State. I didn't see much that was really impressive. I get that it feels bad to drop this team from 2 to 8 with a win, but this was a near loss to Florida State, and their schedule has been the easiest of top 10 teams. I still think they have huge talent, and can compete with anyone, but I think they were overrated previously.
galacticdude7 7 Predicted Record: 11-1

Losses: @ Notre Dame

Comment: I'm willing to chalk up the tight win against Florida State as some rivalry game funkiness, but it doesn't make me think they can beat Notre Dame
HieloLuz 7 Miami only has 1 quality win, over Wake Forest. The ACC is looking really weak this year, and that will hurt Miami a lot if they drop a game. They stay behind a group of 1 loss teams because their schedule has been so weak.
Justanother_0 7 Undefeated, but that FSU game gave me some pause on trusting Miami to sweep the ACC.

ColombianInIowa24 15 30.40 - Yes, yes, Canes fans I know they didn't lose (though they should've if the ACC refs didn't want to rig the game). However, since last year, OT is counted as a tie and OT with FSU is not exactly impressive.

_THE__BOULDER_ 2 A close call at home against FSU. People will argue that Miami was bailed out (twice) in OT as both of FSU's long touchdown attempts were called in Miami's favor - 1 for holding, the other claimed to be an INT by Miami. I don't personally agree with either call, but I can see how the INT was not enough to overturn given the call on the field. The holding, on the other hand, seemed much more arguable.
Either way, this was an extremely entertaining game between conference & in-state rivals. FSU came to play and did look good on offense. Miami has been a team where I thought they might be one of the most complete teams in CFB this year. Their offense is still elite, even if I feel like they run too much of it through Toney. That being said, he is Mr. Reliable. Their defense needed some work though. I'm not convinced Norvell's issue is that he can't coach on the field; I'm more convinced that Novell's issue is that they have been recruiting nowhere up to Florida State's previous standards. I'm definitely convinced that Miami might have been in much more trouble if the talent gap wasn't as wide.

Miami has some interesting games coming up - Pitt, @ Notre Dame , Duke, VT. I'm no longer as convinced that Miami will walk through this schedule.

Miami has no rule losses and 32 rule wins, including Wake Forest, which it beat 33-20 on the road. It also won at Clemson 41-13 and beat Florida State 43-35 this week. It wins 94% of its simulated games. It’s the only unbeaten in the top three, but Notre Dame finishes ahead of it in 76% of brackets.
