Slade Nagle is moving into that Buster Faulkner tier for me—the thing that convinced me Faulkner was a great OC was how he and Chris Weinke got the absolute most out of Haynes King (another alleged bust that initially went to A&M…hmm). Nagle (and Fritz, too) are doing the same thing with Weigman. IMO, it’s time to stop sleeping on this team. They nearly got it done against Texas Tech, and at this point I might take Houston in a rematch.

For those that missed it, the Houston-Oklahoma State game this past Saturday was an incredible showcase between Houston QB Connor Weigman and Cowboys QB Drew Mestemaker on who could make the best throws for 60 minutes. It was an incredible game, and the Coogs deservedly move up the rankings as a result of their triumph over the Cowboys. They now have the opportunity to jump into the top 10 with a game against the Utes in Salt Lake City, a tough ask for the Fritz but one they may just be able to answer.

Maladroit44 18 Houston's conference slate has been unusually frontloaded compared to the other Big 12 contenders, so after their trip to Utah this week, they'll mostly just be sitting around hoping for things to go their way. That gets a whole lot more likely with a win over the Utes, of course, but beating Oklahoma State ensures the door will at least be ajar even if the Cougars are headed for a 7-2 finish in the league standings. Pull off the upset here, though, and the route to Arlington becomes much clearer, at least assuming UH can take care of business throughout the final month of the season.

_THE__BOULDER_ 11 Houston moves up from #14 for me after a close win at home to a good OKST team. Conner Weigman threw for 5TDs, 343YDs on 24/33, and 1INT. The Houston offense rushed for 162 yards. In total, over 500 yards of offense. They started off slow - throwing an INT on their first drive, but the defense managed to hold OKST to a FG. The Houston offense scored a TD on the next drive and never trailed again - although OKST kept it close and was trying to get the lead. A good game, and these boys play Utah this upcoming weekend. Looking forward to this Big12 game and its implications. Houston has the ability to potentially go 11-1, 10-2 given their schedule. Due to the loss to TTech, I don't think they have a shot at the Big12 Title Game, but this team has some playoff potential.
