Doogitywoogity 4 Beating a good but not great Oregon followed up by a resurgent Wisconsin looks nice. If this squad continues to cruise USC may be their only challenge all season. I know West coast football better than to think that though, but for now enjoy the top spot in the B1G.

The only ranked opponent left on their schedule is USC after thanksgiving, so we could see baby blue in the playoff if they don't take their eye off the ball.

sgtshenanigans 5 UCLA is undefeated and has some pretty decent wins against Oregon and Wisconsin. That being said they are playing their back up QB who seems to have played ok but not great. UCLA has one of the easiest schedules for a top team going forward which might be enough to keep them in the playoff hunt all season.

Maladroit44 8 This is, believe it or not, the lone undefeated team in either the Big Ten or the SEC. Even at 6-0, though, we don't really know much about them, and this week was not particularly revealing in that regard. I don't put a ton of stock in beating a Wisconsin team that Notre Dame blew to kingdom come, at least not when you do it with 3.2 yards a carry, 13 (!) conversions on 20 (!!!) third downs, and a lot of help from opposing miscues for the second week in a row. The Bruins are still undefeated, and you have to credit them for that, but there has to be a convincing win against a solid team in them somewhere. Right?

It may not have been pretty, and it may not have been entirely balanced in terms of penalties (again, thank you college refs, even B1G ones), but the Bruins are bowl-eligible for the first time since 2023 and are undefeated to boot. The Bruins have managed to cope well with the loss of starting QB Nico Iamaveala by relying on their stellar defense to keep games manageable. Head Coach Bob Chesney also looks like another chip of the coach-printing factory that is apparently JMU over the past decade, and despite a weaker schedule pinning them outside the top 5, there's a serious chance we're talking about the Bruins playing in Indianapolis for what looks to be the last B1G Title game for the near-future.

Comment: I'll probably wind up having them lower than the AP Poll and the CFB poll given they are the last undefeated Big Ten or SEC team in the country, but I have a lot of questions about this team still and feel that both their current record and my prediction for them is a product of their schedule

UCLA has the most rule wins of any team without a rule loss: 45, including Oregon, Wisconsin, Nebraska and Boise State. Its simulated strength is lower than the teams above it (54% against the top 25). It finishes ahead of LSU in only 45% of brackets, so 7th and 8th are close to a coin flip.

quantum_jedi 8 (65.29, +5) What is it with JMU coaches? The Bruins look so much better and while not dominating they are grinding out disciplined, defense-led wins. This is a great foundation to build upon and the sky seems the limit for UCLA as long as Bob Chesney is there.

GrimmacingGrinny 9 The Bruins continue to march along, undefeated to this point. Defeating a Wisconsin team that shocked Penn State earlier this year, although now we know that may have been more that Penn State is not good rather than the strength of Wisconsin. The overall strong points of the Bruins resume rest on defeating Oregon, and Wisconsin.

_THE__BOULDER_ 15 UCLA is currently undefeated with notable wins being over Oregon, Wisconsin, and maybe Purdue(?) with the Wisconsin victory coming this past weekend. In any other year, wins over Oregon & Wisconsin might be big reasons to like this team. Wisconsin isn't bad, per se, and I think they're trending in a positive direction than the last few years, but I'm hesitant to call them good as of yet. Despite being undefeated, I am hesitant to rank them much higher. With Iamaleava out, I do have some big questions about this UCLA team. Dieffenbach did play well enough to get them a win but got no touchdowns - 22/33 for 264YDs and 1 INT. The running game was decent with Woods & Thomas averaging over 4YPC. Their leading rusher, Wayne Knight, on the other hand, was very inefficient on the day, averaging only 1.8YPC on 13 carries.

There are very beatable teams on this schedule, however, and I can almost see a world where this team limps into their final game against USC undefeated. They do not play any more of the B1G's heavy hitters until then, with maybe the exception of Michigan the weekend before Thanksgiving, but they are a team who is still working on getting their act together. I don't particularly think USC is that great either, but it seems to be the most dangerous game remaining on the UCLA schedule. If they do make it, I'll be very impressed, but I'll need to see them get back to scoring in bunches before I'm confident in their ability to really compete. Back to back games with only 17 points is concerning, even though I know they're on their backup QB. Unfortunately, Nico Iamaleava is out for the season, which doesn't leave me with much confidence at this time.
