The only reason this team is so low in the AP and Coaches' polls is inertia. Plain and simple. I had them unranked as recently as two weeks ago, and now they're at 7. As stated in my rationale, I re-rack every week, and I put a lot of weight into coaching decisions and QB trust. I did not trust DTR for a stretch there in the middle of the season, but it seems as though he's hit his stride again and continued putting UCLA on his trusty shoulders. This is a solid team that in my opinion deserves the Rose Bowl over the likes of Utah and Washington, both of whom lost to UCLA.

I’ve been hating on UCLA all year so I will refrain from doing it in this space. The defense is bad (except the pass rush, which actually brings It™️ consistently). The Washington win was really good but an average team would go 8-4 against this schedule, so 9-3 is not the breakthrough most seem to think it was.

Feels like the air is out of the balloon with the loss to USC. Looked sloppy against Cal.

Really solid year after progress was slow up to this point under Chip.

Despite them keeping it close with USC, they have now been in 3 shootouts in the past 3 games, including a 5-7 Arizona and most recently a 4-8 Cal. Holding onto one good win vs. Washington, UCLA looks good but not good enough for a top 15 berth.

Head 2 head loss to Oregon; Head 2 head win over Utah.

Last Week #18 at California Won 35-28. Not a great way to end the season, but a close win is better than a loss to a bad team. I feel like a bowl game vs a team like Mississippi State would be fun to see.
