GatorBolt Ballot for 2022 Week 14

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Nov. 28, 2022, 4:12 p.m.

Rank Team Reason
Georgia Bulldogs No reason to not make them the #1 team. After this weekend they can afford to sleepwalk against LSU too, which is wild.
Michigan Wolverines These past two years have had to feel so cathartic for Michigan fans. Probably even funnier for them seeing Ohio State fans go into full DEFCON mode and some of them call for Day's job over this. Still, what an excellent performance from the Wolverines. I can hear an argument for them being #1, but I still feel 2 is right for now.
TCU Horned Frogs They've kept winning, and props to them for going full style points against Iowa State. Hypnotoad only has Kansas State in its path.
USC Trojans Caleb Williams is special. Probably the main reason USC is likely playoff bound year one under Lincoln.
Ohio State Buckeyes Only loss is to #2, I can't make them fall behind two loss teams, especially one they beat. They can and should still make the playoff if one of USC or TCU slip up. It would feel dirty after what I saw yesterday, but hey.
Penn State Nittany Lions Only losses were to 2 and 5, and beat the crap out of everybody else. Blue balls that the expanded playoffs don't start for a couple more seasons.
Tennessee Volunteers Lots of teams didn't want their spot this year. Still have great wins, but that South Carolina loss still stings
Alabama Crimson Tide I think they're better than 8, but Head to Head keeps them down. Still, a combined 4 points in their two losses has to sting a bit. This year's Bama is probably the biggest missed opportunity of the Saban era.
Washington Huskies 10-2 in year one under a new coach. No complaints to be had except for tiebreakers going wild.
Clemson Tigers Well somebody has to be 10.
Oregon State Beavers I feel vindicated being high on them.
Florida State Seminoles Jordan Travis put the team on his back. As a Gator fan, I hope he declares so bad.
Tulane Green Wave I'm going to put some respect on Tulane's name. Especially if the 10-20 range of P5 teams didn't want to keep their spots. And I'm dying on the hill of ranking them over K-State.
Kansas State Wildcats Really solid team, and a chance to create chaos in Arlington.
Oregon Ducks Still a top 15 team imo, but man that collapse against the Beavers hurts.
UCLA Bruins Really solid year after progress was slow up to this point under Chip.
LSU Tigers 9-3 and then losing to a hapless A&M deserves to be punished.
Utah Utes Another solid year, just not as high on them as some other polls.
South Carolina Gamecocks If I keep Clemson and Tennessee relatively high, I might as well put the Cocks in here. Weird year.
Texas Longhorns Fine, I'll rank Texas. In all seriousness, this was a good improvement from last year. With their recruiting and another year for Ewers next year the B word may be spoken.
UTSA Roadrunners Meep Meep. They followed up last year's run with another solid season and with the AAC calling next year they might become the class of that conference.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Don't feel like punishing them too much since they played valiantly in LA.
Troy Trojans Really underrated year and I feel like putting respect on them.
South Alabama Jaguars Really underrated team. Only losses were 1 point to a good UCLA and 4 points to a ranked Troy. That's all that separates them from possibly going to an NY6 Bowl. More deserving of a number than many of these mid-tier P5s.
Mississippi State Bulldogs Brutal schedule, but a good way to end the year with a golden Egg.
