StFuzzySlippers Ballot for 2026 Week 8

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Oct. 19, 2026, 9:55 a.m.

Overall Rationale: Resume/Eyes/Guts

Rank Team Reason
1 BYU Cougars Unfortunately, there was a lot of contraversial reffing at the end of some of biggest matchups that left them feeling a bit inconclusive. Dealing too much with hypotheticals opens up a can of worms that can't definitively be closed, so I'm not really going to factor in the reffing mistakes, even if they personally make me feel a bit sickened.

So then, BYU stays undefeated with a regulation win over last week's #2 and another win over Arizona on the resume. After all the losing that happened this weekend, that's impressive enough to be #1.
2 Ohio State Buckeyes
3 Miami Hurricanes There is a big difference between winning in regulation and winning in OT2, especially when the quality of opponents is as wide as FSU and ND. They just didn't look as dominant as we've been led to believe they should be, so I'm left feeling like they still have something to prove.
4 Texas Tech Red Raiders
5 Ole Miss Rebels Ole Miss continues to support my theory that the UF loss was an abberation by absolutely throttling Missouri, a team that has yet to recieve such a loss and has posted some impressive wins over the past 2 weeks.

Furthermore, in light of the obscene amount of chaos this weekend, I'm starting to favor the ceiling of teams a bit more. I.E. Ole Miss's impressive wins lift them higher than some undefeated teams.
6 UCLA Bruins Speaking of which, UCLA and Utah deserve kudos for remaining undefeated, but are lacking a win on their resumes that really shows off the power we expect from a top 10 team...
7 Utah Utes ....Utah's struggle with Colorado this weekend was especially puzzling.
8 Indiana Hoosiers ND and Indiana both feel similar to me. The defenses did their jobs, but we were all expecting more out of their QB play, weren't we?
9 Notre Dame Fighting Irish
10 Tennessee Volunteers We knew their D was good, but I don't think anyone expected it to be that good. Was Alabama hungover? Was the environment too much for them? Those things possibly affected them, and I still want to see UT look good on the road and not struggle against the Arkansas of the world.

Nevertheless, MacIntyre might be developing into the reliable, game managing qb they need to guide Bishop and their Defense to a playoff run.
11 Houston Cougars
12 Georgia Bulldogs Seems like a steep drop, but Auburn is a worse loss than most of the teams above them have, and Alabama losing for a second week in a row takes some shine off of the close game from last week.
13 Wake Forest Demon Deacons
14 Kentucky Wildcats
15 Iowa Hawkeyes
16 Arizona Wildcats
17 Texas Longhorns Losing two weeks in a row is dirty work, but 3 points each isn't so bad, and they still have 2 top 10 wins by this week's rankings. Arch is holding them back for sure, but there is still time to right the ship.
18 LSU Tigers
19 Alabama Crimson Tide Similar story to Texas, except the wins aren't as good (albeit by much more convincing margins) and the losses are to better teams.
20 Florida Gators
21 Auburn Tigers As for the rest of the SEC teams near the bottom... I really took a close look at the wins of 1 and 2 loss teams around the FBS, but most other candidates' wins, like Ok. State and NW, really are not that impressive. I'm sure the SEC will continue to canibalize itself, which may result in more stratification in upcoming weeks, but for now it's just a blob that's difficult to differentiate. If you rank one, it's difficult to see how the other teams in "The Blob" are any worse or better without making gut assumptions.
22 USC Trojans
23 James Madison Dukes
24 SMU Mustangs
25 Missouri Tigers This spot was going to go to the winner of Nebraska@Oregon, but I stayed up for that entire game, and it was so stinky I just couldn't bring myself to do it.

Anyway, here's Missouri—the de facto "I dunno, I guess this poll needs 1 more team" team of FBS football.
