Xy13 Ballot for 2026 Week 8

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Oct. 20, 2026, 12:25 a.m.

Overall Rationale: Records and Eyeballs

Rank Team Reason
1 BYU Cougars Well, do I think BYU is the best team in the nation? No. Do I think they deserve to be ranked #1, yes. They just beat #2 ND, and sit above the other undefeated teams in my view.

What the fuck was that fake punt though? Terrible decision, terrible play, and terrible execution.
2 Miami Hurricanes Miami would've regained their #1 ranking, but they went to double, nearly triple overtime against unranked FSU. It was a rivalry game, and they did look good in the game, but it should never have been that close.

What an epic game though, shame it had a Refball ending. FSU makes 2 hail marys in a row on 4th down...

Also terrible replay booth, they clearly went in to prove the narrative they wanted "we all agree this is an interception, -right?-" - It was either caught by FSU's Duce Robinson, or it was a contested catch, in which case it goes to the offense. In no way was it an inteception. The FSU WR had 2 hands on the ball the entire time. It landed in the defenders stomach, yes, but when he hit the ground you saw his arms come up off the ball.
3 UCLA Bruins Despite losing their starting QB, youkla kept it rolling, and deflated the wind from wiscy's sails, whom people thought were just getting it going again.
4 Texas Tech Red Raiders Tech should keep it rolling, with a relatively clear schedule. Also avoid BYU and Utah in the regular season.

The devils may have the raiders to thank. Dilly finally benched Boley, and our new QB started to light it up.
5 Utah Utes Held CU scoreless in the first half, then got a bit complacent. Let the game get closer than it should've.
6 Ohio State Buckeyes Is it better to be skilled, or lucky?

OSU survives by a foot (literally).
7 Indiana Hoosiers Missed it by that much. Feel like they outplayed OSU most the game.
8 Notre Dame Fighting Irish Try going to a bowl game
9 Georgia Bulldogs Yikes, dawg.
10 James Madison Dukes Will Billy Napier make the CFP at JMU before Florida does, despite being the coach at Florida for years?
11 Houston Cougars Willie has his Cougs in the hunt, with only a loss to TTU so far. They knocked OSU out of the rankings this weekend.
12 Tennessee Volunteers Gee, are Vols elite, or is Bama dogwater? Hard to tell when a game looked like this.
13 Iowa Hawkeyes Iowa has a smooth runway into the CFP with their only hard remaining match being ... *checks notes* ... Northwestern? No one would've called that preseason.
14 Wake Forest Demon Deacons Boy they made us Cal Rankers look silly.
15 USC Trojans BYE WEEK
16 Northwestern Wildcats Didn't expect them to struggle against the Spartans
17 Kentucky Wildcats Is Kentucky Good? Or have they just run up against SEC teams that were predicted to be better than they have been. Bama, A&M, LSU, OU. I'm not sure yet.
18 SMU Mustangs I don't really have too many notes on the Stangs. Expect them to continue winning till they hit a few tough games in a row near the end of the season, and we will see if they are a contenter for the CFP or just the ACC.
19 Ole Miss Rebels This still feels high for Ole Miss for me.
20 LSU Tigers Well they shut up the Miss St hype real fast with that blowout.
21 Florida Gators We're back. It's over. We're back.
22 Alabama Crimson Tide This was not the game for Russell, who has generally looked pretty decent this year. Will their season / lockerroom collapse or rally from this point?
23 Texas Longhorns Manning. Idk. Are the expectations too high because of his name? Is he doing decent but not living up to Heisman hope? Is he terrible but just sticking around because of his name? It's hard to say. He is an enigma. Strictly speaking looking at his stats, Texas isn't really winning because of him, or losing because of him. Though he has had a few last drive interceptions on the season now.
24 Oregon State Beavers So fun facts. WR Jesse Legree is leading Jeremiah Smith in every WR stat and the leader for the Biletnikoff:
YDS 1,040 1st vs 984 2nd
TDs 14 1st vs 12 2nd
AVG 22.6 3rd vs 18.9 14th
Oh, and on only 46 receptions instead of 52.

So how is Jeremiah Leading the Heisman race (best player in college) when he isn't even the best at his own position?

inb4 look at the defense ORSU plays, I'll counter with look at the teammates on tOSU.
25 North Dakota State Bison The Bison rally off their unfortunate 1st FBS defeat. I still think they have good odds to make the CFP in their first year as an FBS team.
