2023 Week 3 Miami Hurricanes Rankings

Main Poll Voters

User Rank Reason
Hey_Its_Roomie 2 Majority of these programs in this ranking have opponent's whose total win percentage out of the ranked team's games is 100%. For example, Rutgers' opponents (Temple and Northwestern) both have won their games outside of games against Rutgers. This applies to pretty much everybody in this ranking, except USC, Auburn, Oklahoma, and Washington.

texas2089 23 Tyler Van Dyke looked like the TVD we saw in 2021 during his ACC Rookie of the Year season. Some serious special teams blunders by the Canes gifted the Aggies 14 points in the form of having a punt blocked and a muffing an A&M punt to put the Aggies up 17-7. The Hurricanes took over from there though, outscoring the Aggies 41-16 the rest of the way. Van Dymes threw for 374 yards and 5 TDs, 3 of which went to Jacolby George. The Canes defense forced 3 turnovers, while their offense didn't turn it over once. It wasn't all bad for the Miami special teams either, as they returned a kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown. Last year's contest with the Aggies felt like Miami was the better team, but couldn't get out of their own way. This year the Canes took it to the Aggies and look to be on the climb back. Now how much of this is "Miami is good" and how much is "A&M is bad" remains to be seen, but it's a promising game if you're a Miami fan. FCS Bethune-Cookman is up next next.

Due_Connection179 24 Last Week NR vs Texas A&M : Won 48 - 33. We rallied to outscore A&M 41 - 16 in the last 43 minutes of the game. Great showing from all phases of the team (besides the defense in the 1st quarter) and shout out to Tyler Van Dyke for tossing 374 yards + 5 TDs on a defense that I was told "would allow 0 TDs to Miami". Next Week vs Bethune Cookman (Prediction : Cruise Control)

JetoGrov 6 Ranking Miami this high does mean that I valued TXA&M as a good team (funnily enough, half of my top 6 is there because of wins over SEC West teams), we'll have to see how the remainder of the season plays out to see if beating A&M is actually worth much...still was a thorough outclassing

cfbpeoplespoll 21 Did whatever they wanted on offense against a talented Texas A&M team. The problem for Miami will be consistently putting out good performances against teams they should beat.

Tornadohunter24 21 Is Miami… back? Who really knows, but at least they proved that, despite the addition of Bobby Petrino to the Texas A&M Offensive Coordinator position, they’re still better than the Aggies in their 48-33 scorigami win. This builds off of their dominant 38-3 Week 1 victory against Ohio’s Miami, and should mean that the Hurricanes will enter ACC play at 4-0, as long as everything goes to plan. This weekend’s matchup against FCS HBCU Bethune-Cookman should be an easy win for Year 2 HC Mario Cristobal, though perhaps the game at Temple in Week 4 could prove to be a trap that derails the season. We’ll have to see if Miami actually returns to something resembling their magical run in the 80s and 90s, or if we’re just under the illusion of a good program in Coral Gables once again.
