T-Thugs Ballot for 2023 Week 3

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 10, 2023, 10:36 a.m.

Overall Rationale: Each week I rank teams based on their accomplishments so far this season. It can look a little crazy the first few weeks but as the season goes on and everyone plays real games, it starts to look more like everyone else's.

Rank Team Reason
Texas Longhorns Texas jumps to #1 in my poll with their win at Alabama, the most impressive win so far this season. They're now 2-0 and also have a win over Rice, which looks maybe a little better after Rice defeated Houston.
Florida State Seminoles Florida State is my number 2 team thanks to their dominant win over LSU, who got back on the winning train this week. FSU crushed a cupcake this week and is 2-0.
Duke Blue Devils Duke is sitting #3 in my poll thanks to their dominant win over Clemson. Duke also dominated Lafayette this weekend to move to 2-0.
Utah Utes Utah stays near the top of my rankings this week after defeating Baylor. Baylor is 0-2, so it isnt a great win but its still probably better than everyone playing cupcakes. They also have a nice win over Florida.
Miami Hurricanes Miami jumps into my rankings at #5 after a solid victory over Texas A&M. Miami is 2-0.
Colorado Buffaloes The Buffs dominated a hapless Nebraska (0-2) team this weekend to move to 2-0. CU also has a nice win on the road over TCU.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Notre Dame dominated a decent NC State (1-1) team on the road, moving to 3-0. The win gives them a nice jump in my poll.
USC Trojans USC dominated Stanford this weekend to move to 3-0.
North Carolina Tar Heels North Carolina moved to 2-0 with a close win over Appalachian State. Still has a good win over South Carolina.
Ole Miss Rebels Ole Miss moves into my rankings after taking down Tulane at their place. Tulane isn't P5 but after winning the Cotton Bowl last year, they were one of the top G5 teams in the country.
Fresno State Bulldogs Fresno State snuck by Eastern Washington but their win over Purdue looks a little better after Purdue beat Virginia Tech.
Penn State Nittany Lions Penn State is 2-0 with a win over West Virginia (1-1)
Ohio State Buckeyes Buckeyes are 2-0 with a road win over Indiana (1-1)
Wake Forest Demon Deacons Wake Forest moved to 2-0 with a win over Vanderbilt.
Oklahoma State Cowboys Oklahoma State moved to 2-0 with a win on the road at Arizona State (1-1)
Auburn Tigers Auburn moves to 2-0 after a road win over Cal (1-1)
Cincinnati Bearcats Cincinnati moves to 2-0 with a road win over Pitt (1-1)
Louisville Cardinals Louisville is 2-0 with a win over Georgia Tech (1-1)
Rutgers Scarlet Knights Rutgers is 2-0 with a win over Northwestern (1-1)
Mississippi State Bulldogs Mississippi State is 2-0 with a win over Arizona (1-1)
Oregon Ducks Oregon is now 2-0 with a win over Texas Tech (0-2)
Tennessee Volunteers Tennessee is 2-0 with a win over Virginia (0-2)
Minnesota Golden Gophers Minnesota is 2-0 with a win over Nebraska (0-2)
Wyoming Cowboys Wyoming is 2-0 with a win over Texas Tech (0-2)
Georgia Bulldogs Georgia is 2-0 with wins over nobodies, but I've got them in my poll as the top team without a quality win because they are the 2x reigning champs and have been dominant.
