HHcougar 1 T-1 with USC, gets the nod because they're ranked higher in my Power Ranking, the tiebreaker. Alabama might not be world-beaters, but Texas got their biggest win in 10+ years. Texas is... 2-0

T-Thugs 1 Texas jumps to #1 in my poll with their win at Alabama, the most impressive win so far this season. They're now 2-0 and also have a win over Rice, which looks maybe a little better after Rice defeated Houston.

texas2089 4 TEXAS. IS. BA......ttling very hard. I won't say the B word yet until they can win a conference championship but this was a statement win by the Longhorns on the road in Tuscaloosa. Quinn Ewers looked unfazed by raucous crowd at BDS as he threw for 349 yards and 3 TDs, 2 of which went to Georgia transfer Adonai Mitchell. Texas picked off Jalen Milroe twice, sacked him 5 times, and held Milroe largely in check on the ground. Texas kicker Bert Auburn was 2/3 on FG tries and 4/4 on XP totaling 10 points, the exact margin of defeat. So you could say that Auburn beat Alabama. The key for Texas going forward is can they keep focused following the highest of highs? When the entire world is patting you on the back telling you how great you are, can you tune it out and just keep that hunger? Wyoming comes to Austin next week, a team that shocked Texas Tech Week 1. The Longhorns better not get caught sleeping.

70stang 5 Texas is the first of the 2-0 teams in my ranking that did not beat two P5 opponents. They beat an AAC G5 school and a P5 team in their own house, and sit at the top of this category (2-0 teams who have played one P5 and one G5 team) over teams like UNC or Iowa due to human adjustment.

Due_Connection179 5 Last Week #12 at #5 Alabama : Won 34 - 24. Besides a small part of the end of the 3rd/start of the 4th, Texas was in control of this entire game. Strong showing from this Texas squad one season before SEC play begins. I went back-and-forth on whether they should be top 4, and realized that we had 12 weeks of football left to decide, so I threw them in at #5. Next Week vs Wyoming (Prediction : Cruise Control)

nw____ 6 Second best resume, imo. I don't want to take anything away from Texas, but Alabama doesn't have a QB right now. What if Alabama is just good this season? What if they're just ok? I'm just not sure whether the Texas-Bama game was a battle of two top 6-7 teams or a battle of two top 15-20 teams. All said, part of the reason Texas isn't higher is because I trust Penix more than Ewers, too... and because I don't want to fall for the "Texas is Back" thing just yet. It's wrong, it's unfair, but I want to see them win a few more of the games they're supposed to win before I get too carried away. This team's problem has never been talent, it's been consistency. Top-5 teams should be consistent (though, at some point, the team's record is the team's record and I'll eventually start rewarding teams for finding creative ways to win, so I'm really just a skeptical hypocrite).

romulusjsp 7 (NR) Okay, I'll admit it, I didn't rank the Longhorns until now, I tire of the tExAs Is BaCk meme every year. But Texas was totally in control of the game in T-Town basically from the word go, even if the final score didn't reflect that, and they look like they could hang with anybody in the country if they play the same way.

Tornadohunter24 1 Alright, let’s talk about the Longhorns. For the first time since 2019, a team went to Tuscaloosa and managed to escape with the win, and it was the first time someone not from the SEC did that since Louisiana-Monroe in 2007. That is an insane stat, which shows not only the longevity of Saban’s reign atop the CFB landscape but also how monumental of a win this is for Texas, who I have had jump 12 positions all the way to #1. This wasn’t a fluke win either; Texas was the more physically dominant, more composed, and more confident team from start to finish, only briefly letting Alabama recapture the lead before slamming the door shut on the Crimson Tide in the 4th. For the first time in probably over a decade (Sugar Bowl-winning 2019 Texas, who was a lot more of a paper tiger, notwithstanding), there is legitimate hope in Austin that they have a team ready to contend for the national championship. So is Texas finally back? I don’t know, but they look pretty damn good. We’ll see if they can stave off any rogue upsets against Wyoming this weekend and avoid falling into a H8ful cycle when Big XII play starts in Week 4.

Midnight-Mustang 2 - Texas has the best win in college football. Beating Alabama by double digits at home puts you in the top four automatically; they're above Michigan and FSU simply because Michigan hasn't played anyone and Texas' win is better than FSU's win.

ScaratheBear 3 (+9) First serious game on the list. Texas walked into Bryant Denny as "underdogs" and looked nothing of the sort. Quinn Ewers looked excellent, throwing for 350 yards and 3 TDs as the defense made Jalen Milroe and the Tide offense look pedestrian. Steve Sarkisian's gameplan ran circles around Alabama as the Horns comfortably beat the tide 34-24. If the Horns can keep that level of play up throughout the season, watch out. Texas jumps to 3 for an excellent game against the Dark Lord himself.

throwaway_6786 4 TEXAS IS... a great team this year so far. Solid win over Alabama, though to be fair, they were losing entering the 4th quarter. Still, Ewers lived up to the hype and the Longhorns proved that they are, for now, the top dog in the Big 12 as well as the #4 team in the country.
