texas2089 10 The Longhorns had their fair share of miscues but put together an overall decent offensive showing, led by Quinn Ewers' 260 yard, 3 TD day. The story of the game was the Texas defense suffocating the Owls to the tune of just 176 yards while forcing 3 turnovers. The Longhorns have defeated Alabama's daddy. The question is, can they now defeat Alabama?

bretticus33 13 Texas started really slow and failed to truly impress against a terrible Rice team despite winning by 27. I'm still waiting for Quinn Ewers to show why he should be considered one of CFB's top QBs. They have a huge opportunity against Alabama to show me why they should be higher than 13.
ChaseTheFalcon 13
cornholesurfer 13 Not much to say as I did not get to watch this game. All answers should be brought to light when the Longhorns square off against the tide.

crownebeach 16 I really, really do not see what others do in Quinn Ewers. He has a lot of potential but right now, today, he is not a good quarterback. Texas will go as far as their fronts can take them.

jjjoebox 17 (+4) Okay I'll move them up a little bit but don't think I've bought into them. Being a Fan-In-Law means I get the benefit of an outside prospective and I ain't blindly buying into Bevo until they beat someone worthwhile. This school fails too often with so much talent.

CharlemagneOfTheUSA 20 Movement: (+5) - Is this team a top 10 team, like they will be in the AP? I highly doubt it. However, they do very much have a great opportunity against Alabama to prove me wrong. And I love to see an Alabama loss, so please prove me wrong!

ScaratheBear 12 The result: 37-10 vs Rice. A bit of a slow start for the Texas offense, but the defense looks in midseason form already. Perhaps some of the offensive woes are due to it being something like 165 (not an exaggeration) on the field for gameday. Stat for ya? Quinn Ewers was near perfect on throws inside of 15 yards, and 0-7 on throws longer than 15 yards. Expect a quick, short throwing offense against Alabama. The reasoning: I'll admit, Texas's ranking is more an idea of what they could be rather than what they've shown themselves to be. They are phenomenally talented, talented enough to compete with anyone in the division and more truly in the country. They've struggled to put all that talent into a cohesive unit, but if they can, this is a team that could compete for a title. Next up: Who's ready for some joyless murderball?

Dawg-Bite 13 I had them at 4 in the preseason and honestly I think they may be higher than this but they were slow to start against Rice so I’m going to temper expectations for this team heading into week 2
