T-Thugs Ballot for 2023 Week 2

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 5, 2023, 9:34 a.m.

Overall Rationale: Each week, I start my ballot from scratch and I rank everyone based on their accomplishments this year. Early in the season, my ballot looks pretty different because I don't rank on who I think will be good but rather who has won big games. For the first week, I count wins over P5 teams as more impressive than wins over non-p5 teams until we know who is actually good.

Rank Team Reason
Florida State Seminoles FSU Played a dominant second half and blew out LSU, a team with playoff aspirations. By far this is the most impressive win early this season.
Duke Blue Devils Duke starts off the year with a solid home victory over an AP top 10 Clemson.
North Carolina Tar Heels North Carolina started off their year with a solid win over South Carolina.
Colorado Buffaloes I didn't expect Colorado to be any good, but Shader and Hunter looked legit and CU came away from TCU with a nice season opening win.
Utah Utes Utah dominated Florida from start to finish in their season opener without Cam Rising.
Tennessee Volunteers Tennessee dominated Virginia in their opener.
Penn State Nittany Lions Penn State dominated West Virginia in their opener.
Ohio State Buckeyes Ohio State had a 20 point win over Indiana.
Fresno State Bulldogs Fresno State started the year with a nice road win over Purdue.
Louisville Cardinals Louisville starts off the year with a win over Georgia Tech
Minnesota Golden Gophers Minnesota had a pretty wild comeback to defeat Nebraska in their season opener.
Northern Illinois Huskies Northern Illinois started off their year with a nice win over Boston College.
Texas State Bobcats Texas State started their year with a win over Baylor.
Wyoming Cowboys Wyoming defeated Texas Tech to start their season.
Rutgers Scarlet Knights Rutgers started off the year with a win over Northwestern. I don't think this will be an impressive win as the year goes on because I think Northwestern will probably stink, but it is a p5 win.
Washington Huskies Washington didn't beat a P5 team but Boise has been one of the stronger G5 teams for a while and I'm going to treat that much like a P5 win.
Georgia Bulldogs Here starts my good teams who haven't beaten anyone worth noting. We'll start with the reigning champs who dominated UT-Martin.
Alabama Crimson Tide Alabama started the year with a blowout over Middle Tennessee. Chance to move up next week with a game against Texas.
USC Trojans USC is 2-0 with 2 blowout wins.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish ND is also 2-0 with 2 blowout wins.
Oregon Ducks Oregon scored 80 in their opener blowout.
Oklahoma Sooners Oklahoma scored 70 in their opening game blowout.
Kansas State Wildcats Kansas State started the year with a 45-0 blowout win.
Michigan Wolverines Michigan started the year with a win over East Carolina.
Texas Longhorns Texas started the year with a win over Rice. They play Alabama next week and could shoot up my rankings.
