RegionalBias Ballot for 2023 Week 2

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 5, 2023, 3:01 p.m.

Overall Rationale: Early in the year, I use carry-over from the previous year, but will adjust for significant roster change (See Colorado). Each Week is a reranking from scratch to eliminate the "Front runner status" carrying teams that haven't earned their place (See Clemson). I am forgiving of slow week 1 starts so long as the team is dominant in other areas. Once the season gets some weeks in I switch to letting my computer poll suggest the order and then human adjust. Also, little to no points given for beating a glorified scrimmage (FCS outside of a few teams). Don't sweat if your favorite team isn't ranked high yet, it is early.

Rank Team Reason
Georgia Bulldogs Defending champ with one last scrimmage in week 1
Michigan Wolverines 30-3 over a G5 while they shake the rust out.
Ohio State Buckeyes 23-3 over a P5 on the road. The defense did their job and the offense showed sparks. Will reevaluate more critically after next week.
USC Trojans
Alabama Crimson Tide Got the job done against an overmatched MTSU
Penn State Nittany Lions An impressive win over P5
Texas Longhorns Is ESPN's hype controlling my mind? Perhaps.
Washington Huskies World beaters in even-numbered quarters.
Florida State Seminoles What a second half against the AC helmeted team.
Tennessee Volunteers Technically a big win versus a P5 OOC.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish 2-0 versus deflated tires. Season actually starts next week for them.
Utah Utes Respect playing an OOC P5, even if it is Florida
Oregon State Beavers What if it wasn't DJU that was the problem at Clemson?
Oregon Ducks Talk about getting your blood money's worth.
Kansas State Wildcats No credit was offered for beating that opponent.
North Carolina Tar Heels Nice pulling away from South Carolina.
Oklahoma Sooners Hello police, I'd like to report a murder.
Wisconsin Badgers Pounded out a decent win.
Duke Blue Devils Electric finish. Not overreacting to Clemson fumbling twice near the goal line. Congrats Devils.
Texas A&M Aggies Okay
Colorado Buffaloes That FCS QB can sling it.
Ole Miss Rebels No credit was offered for beating that opponent, even if those odd quarters were huge.
Tulane Green Wave Taking control of the American early
UCF Knights Who knows what they have this year
Iowa Hawkeyes Iowa gets a lead and stops playing offense, which is tradition by this point.
