manbeardawg Ballot for 2023 Week 2

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 5, 2023, 7:13 p.m.

Overall Rationale: Watched highlights and evaluated each undefeated team's play for the week. As you can see in each team's reasoning, we are probably four weeks away from being able to make a true estimation of where the rankings should fall.

Rank Team Reason
Florida State Seminoles Dominant game over LSU team that should compete for the SEC West this year. Best on-field resume of any team in the country.
Michigan Wolverines Solid performance. Expect more from future games.
Georgia Bulldogs Held to a higher standard as two-time defending national champions. They started out flat-footed and should not be rewarded for sluggish play.
Duke Blue Devils Absolutely dominated what I expect will be a good (though not really good) Clemson team. I expect the Blue Devils to surprise more folks before the season's over.
Ohio State Buckeyes Got it done, though I expect more in the coming weeks if they are to maintain proximity to a playoff spot.
Penn State Nittany Lions Good win against a mediocre WVU team.
Tennessee Volunteers Great game agains the Cavaliers.
USC Trojans Wow.
Oregon Ducks You can't not respect anytime anyone scores 81 points, even against Portland State.
Colorado Buffaloes What a game against last year's runners-up. Prime may be for real, but more tests await in the coming weeks.
Tulane Green Wave It may have been South Alabama, but the Green Wave was rolling. I expect good things from Tulane this season.
Alabama Crimson Tide Meh. It was just MTSU.
Washington Huskies Good game and will probably rise with coming weeks.
Utah Utes It's great, to be, a Gater Hater.
Kentucky Wildcats I expect that October 7th is going to be the SEC East Championship Game. Kentucky will play well in the meantime, and I expect them to beat Tennessee.
Kansas State Wildcats Solid game. Let's see if they can keep it up.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Between Navy and Tennessee State, it's clear the Irish can handle mid-level teams. Let's see what they can do over the course of September and then rank them accordingly.
Oregon State Beavers Nice work on San Jose. But it's still San Jose. Here's hoping the Beavers can make use of this rage-filled season as it continues to develop.
Washington State Cougars Here's hoping the Cougars can make use of this rage-filled season as it continues to develop.
Appalachian State Mountaineers I like the Mountaineers, but they've got to play better against teams like Gardner-Webb if they're going to stick around.
North Carolina Tar Heels UNC played well and beat an SEC Team. Still a lot of football until I can get a solid read on them.
Texas Longhorns Well damn they beat the Owls. Let's see how they fare in Tuscaloosa.
TCU Horned Frogs I expected much more from the Frogs. Season isn't over, but I expect they are not long for my top 25.
Cincinnati Bearcats Eastern Kentucky couldn't handle the 'cats. I think they will have a good season, but I need to see more.
Wisconsin Badgers I don't know why, but I don't believe in the Badgers. We shall see.
