xelphin 5 #5 is pretty high, but putting them below UGA is stupid after the Sugar Bowl.

ya111101 8 Record: 11-2. The Texas hype train takes off early in the season with huge wins over LSU and Oklahoma. The first loss for them comes when 9-0 Texas walks into Ames and the second loss comes in the Big 12 Title rematch with Oklahoma. Bowl Projection: Sugar Bowl

nejaahalcyon 9 Still on an upwards trajectory. They split the games against Oklahoma last year and that is a testament to this team's progression.

Jakesnake42 10 Is Texas Back? People seem to think so after their Sugar Bowl win over UGA but I still have some questions especially on the defensive side of the ball.

steelcitygator 10 I think Texas and Oklahoma split the regular season and (likely) rematch in the CCG.  Really it comes down to who wins the Big 12 and stays away from bad losses.  We know Oklahoma wins the games they should but Texas did not have that consistency last year.  Could make the playoffs but I don't think they're at winning it level yet.

crimsonlaw 11 Texas is difficult to rank. They should be better under Herman in his second year, but they lost so much on defense (only two returning starters) it makes one nervous. Texas still has plenty of talent to fill those openings, so the drop-off could/should be minimal, but expectations don't always match reality. If they can keep QB Sam Ehilnger healthy, the Longhorns should be playing for a conference championship.

iliketoupvotepuns 14 Texas is back? Well, Texas is at least much improved in the Tom Herman era. Texas lost a ton of talent and contributors, especially on defense, but Sam Ehlinger is a legit Heisman contender in an offensive league. I think Oklahoma is still the team to beat in the Big 12, and while the Longhorns could do it, I think we are in for another year of "Texas is back" limbo.

Ticklebump 14 I need to get another Big 12 team on here. I'm really not too crazy about the Longhorns. LSU, Oklahoma, Oklahoma St, and Iowa St all seem to be strong contenders this year and could wreck the Horns before they really get out of the game. Throw in stiff competition from the Neers, the meme team of Kansas, and the purple powerhouses of TCU and Kansas St, and it could be a very bumpy 2019.

crownebeach 16 Returning quarterback near the top of the conference, recruited very well, but lost about a million starters on defense. Incredibly talented, will probably beat a team I have ranked above them...but probably a year away from peak potential.

frumious88 19 Texas average composite class is 12th overall, which isn't bad, but it is certainly below where a program like Texas should be. Texas has the history/resources to be recruiting in top 5 and compete with Alabama, USC, Ohio state.Since Tom Herman has come on board, their record has improved each year. This current ranking still is factoring in Strong's last season so a top 10 ranking is more likely an income vs being around 20th.
