CaptainScuttlebottom Ballot for 2023 Week 3

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 11, 2023, 4:07 p.m.

Overall Rationale: I ran into some issues with my Elo model, so until I have time to sit down and figure that out, I'm going off of pure vibes.

Rank Team Reason
Georgia Bulldogs I honestly think they should be #1 until they lose a game. The last two years have earned them some benefit of the doubt, even though they ain't played nobody.
Texas Longhorns Most impressive win of the season so far + good on paper + meeting eye test.
Michigan Wolverines Self explanatory IMO
Florida State Seminoles Mostly self explanatory IMO; I think they looked great over LSU.
Ohio State Buckeyes Self explanatory IMO
Alabama Crimson Tide I'm not going to knock them too bad for losing a pretty close on to Texas, since I think Texas is really good.
Penn State Nittany Lions Self explanatory IMO, they looked quite good against WVU and I think WVU is underrated a little. Very talented team also.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Self explanatory IMO. They looked good but maybe not elite against their first real opponent NC State.
USC Trojans I think they have the most impressive PAC-12 resume so far, but it's very close. Neither of their opponents were very good, but they blew them tf out.
Utah Utes They would be ahead of USC if they had beaten Baylor just a little more soundly. They looked great against Florida, though.
Washington Huskies Another hard to rank PAC-12 team. #9-#12 are very very close here.
Colorado Buffaloes Really debated moving them up above the rest of the PAC-12 just because I feel like they've had more opportunities to prove themselves. However, I'm considering their two opponents to be pretty unimpressive ATM, so the jury is still out on them.
Oregon Ducks Like Utah, they're being dinged a bit for squeaking by a shaky opponent (Texas Tech)
Tennessee Volunteers They haven't really played anyone yet but I'm ranking them high for roster / schedule reasons.
Oregon State Beavers Really looked good in their wins I thought, but they haven't played anyone very impressive.
Ole Miss Rebels Mad at them for beating Tulane
Kansas Jayhawks I think KU is gonna shock some people this year. Their offense has looked stellar through two games, and the defense is improved from last year. A little bit of a homer pick though tbh.
Kansas State Wildcats I think you should always assume KSU is gonna be at least a solid team.
Miami Hurricanes Credit for beating Jimbo
Duke Blue Devils They looked legit good against Clemson, I think they will contend for the ACC unless they have KU-esque turbulence midway through.
Clemson Tigers They looked like total ass through 6 quarters but then seemed to remember how to play football. Kinda stumped on this one.
Washington State Cougars Nice W over Wisconsin, I think there's a decent chance they rocket up to join the rest of the PAC-12, I just think their schedule will limit them.
Oklahoma Sooners Not sold on this OU team yet. Defense is a hesitant "so far so good", but the offense is just too anemic and spotty to reliably 10ish in games in the Big 12.
North Carolina Tar Heels Squeaked by a good App State team. Not too mad at them for it but still.
LSU Tigers I'm probably being too mean, but they totally quit in the third quarter against FSU. That doesn't bode well in my eyes.
