NyquillusDillwad20 4 Bama could win the national championship and it wouldn't surprise me. But it looks like they may actually have issues at QB.
oghawks18 4 QB and WR won’t be a strength, but a more physical defense and the combo of RB/OL in the run game can win them most games

crownebeach 5 Alabama will win ten games with the potential for more. I don't think that Nick Saban is past it by any stretch. They could win it all. But at +450, they're overpriced.

icklebush 5
ikindalikelemons 5 Very similar to Ohio State and Georgia, but they have the worst QB situation of the three. If Tyler Buchner starts a game for Alabama, that would be an astounding indictment on the QB room. Julian Sayin can't get here fast enough.
joebob431 5
JohnWickStuntDouble 5
kamiller2020 5 Jalen Milroe vs Ty Simpson is NOT a sexy QB battle by any stretch of the imagination, but the hope is one of these guys will emerge to be a lot better than people outside Tuscaloosa are expecting. Simpson is a 5-star who has basically never played, while Jalen Milore did play last year and looked...inconsistent. The worries don't stop there as outside Ja'Corey Brooks the wide receiver room massively underperformed. Nothing from camp has indicated that the situation has gotten better so expect a lot of the offense to fall onto Jase McClellan and the running back room. OLine wasn't great last year but they do return two starters, the big one being J.C. Latham. However, the defense is going to be really dominant this year under Kevin Steele. Dallas Turner isn't Will Anderson, but that's about as good of a replacement as you could find. There are 2 other defensive starters returning up front, and while LB doesn't have a returning starter the talent in that room should shine this season. Kool-Aid McKinstry showed some really good things and you'd expect to see even more development this season along with freshman Caleb Downs playing immediately in week 1. The rest of the defense is young but this side of the ball is where the Tide have the most upside next year. If the offense can get up to speed then Alabama will be back in the playoffs next season and contend for the title next year. If the offense struggles then the Texas schools could knock Bama out of the playoffs real early.

bretticus33 6 It feels weird to have Alabama down this low, but this feels like the weakest team Alabama’s fielded in a long time. Even then, their weakest team is still 6th which shows how good they’ve been. I have a feeling this version of Alabama will be more reminiscint of the early Nick Saban teams where the defense won the day and the offense wasn’t expected to put up 35+ routinely. Defensively they should be better in 2023 with new 5 stars stepping into starting roles and Kevin Steele leading them as DC. The offense looks like a potential problem. It still has enough talent to win games, but the skill positions are lacking and the QB battle is less than inspiring.
BUSean 6
coletheredditer 6 Putting Alabama this low feels wrong, but I can’t put them any higher, so take this as bulletin board material I guess?
Corgi_Koala 6 Hard to bet against Saban, but this team has the most questions of any Saban team going into the season. I'll leave them at #6 because Saban is likely to prove me wrong but I don't think Bama has the elite QB play to achieve their usual results.

FourteenClocks 4 Never, ever count them out. They were four points away from post-season glory and they proved it by beating the tar out of Kansas State. Yes they have questions, and yes they have loseable games, but the QB has Figured Itself Out plenty a time under Saban and done business as usual. Brady had to wait a decade to put on his fourth ring; this dynasty is still very real.

throwaway_6786 4 Speaking of models of consistency, Nick Saban says hello. It will be interesting to see how Alabama adjusts to (probably) not having an uber-talented QB after seven years of Hurts, Tua, Jones, and Young, but something tells me that Saban can figure it out and keep Alabama towards the top.

ScaratheBear 5 There's questions basically everywhere on the Alabama roster. Who starts at QB? Will there be a dominant WR room? How do the new coordinators... coordinate? Does any of it matter? It's Alabama. They're stacked with 5 stars everywhere, they're coming off a dominant Sugar Bowl win, and Nick Saban is the greatest HC in history. The schedule starts tough and stays tough, but I can't imagine Saban would have it any other way. Never bet against the Dark Lord.
TheThirdViceroy 5
TinderForMidgets 5 Alabama has questions at the QB position. Despite having a much heralded QB room, no one truly has significant experience. This does not bode well for playing in front of some hostile and tough crowds in the SEC. Nick Saban is the finest college football coach thus far but a coach can only go as far as their players. Because of the uncertainty at the most important position in all of football, I cautiously place Alabama behind some similarly talented teams that have more certainty at the quarterback position.

JetoGrov 14 The first of two AP top 5 teams that I am low on. I just don't see it this year, they don't have a QB, the Saban stranglehold feels like it has slipped. I don't know what I'm doing betting against them, but it feels like 9-3.
