NyquillusDillwad20 5 This is my team so it will probably come off biased. PSU returns a ton of talent. They should stack up with the best at RB, OL, TE, DE, LB, and CB. WR is a bit of an unknown, but there is a lot of young potential in that room. But the season ultimately comes down to Drew Allar. There is enough talent elsewhere to allow this team to reach whatever level Drew can take them to.

oghawks18 6 Great team with great young talent. Will be tough to go 2-0 against OSU and Michigan, and ILL and Iowa also could be tough. Still a firm NY6 team

bretticus33 7 2023 should be the season where Penn State finally gets over that hump. James Franklin has done a great job reviving Penn State, but hasn’t been able to get over the Ohio State/Michigan hump for a number of seasons now. The defense returns a lot of production despite losing a few players to the NFL. The offense will depend a lot on potential superstar QB Drew Allar stepping up and delivering the QB play Penn State has been desperately missing. Nick Singleton will prove himself as one of the best, if not the best, RB in FBS this season.

crownebeach 7 Penn State is going to be a very familiar sight this year -- resolute defense, question marks and inexperience on offense. This is not going to be a team that wins a title or fights into the playoff, but that has more to do with who's ahead of them than their own merits. I like James Franklin and this team will hit hard.

kamiller2020 7 Drew Allar is the key to a national championship, if he lives up to the hype then in 2023 and 2024 Penn State will have a real shot at winning the whole thing. They'll lean heavily on Nicholas Singleton to lead them this year, with Kaytron Allen playing a strong complementary role. I'm personally high on Dante Cephas from Kent State, KeAndre Lambert-Smith is a strong deep threat. The entire offensive line returns including future first-round pick Olu Fashnu which will be high for Allar's development. And don't sleep on Theo Johnson either. Abdul Carter is garnering Micah Parsons comparisons from Penn State people, which should be scary for everybody else in the country. Penn State returns two strong DE's and one of the deeper young linebacking cores in the country. Losing Joey Porter Jr. will be tough, but Kalen King is one of the best corners in CFB and they really like what they have in the secondary. The question on Penn State's defense is depth, specifically against matching up with Ohio State's and Michigan's offenses. This team should win 9 games easily, but if things break right Penn State has the ability to win the Big Ten and contend for a national title a year earlier than people expect.

ikindalikelemons 8 Always the bridesmaid. There's a real chance here, though. James Franklin has compiled a sneaky great roster, but whether or not they can beat one or both of the B1G East heavyweights listed above will come down to whether Drew Allar is the savior he's been billed as. I really kinda hope he is.

Due_Connection179 11 Everyone else is really a gut feeling right now. I kept TCU top 25 just for being runner up, but I fully believe they go around 7-5 or 8-4 this season. Other shockers: - Kentucky at 18 and Mississippi State at 19. I fully believe these two are the most underrated SEC schools who get zero love every preseason. - Notre Dame at 22 and Oklahoma at 23. Really here because of incoming classes and transfers. Both have 2nd year coaches. I also have both going 8-4 or 9-3.

Corgi_Koala 14 Michigan and OSU are the only possible losses on this schedule. 10-2 to 13-0 are all extremely possible. If they can split OSU and Michigan then a B1G title and playoff berth are very in play. PSU finally has an elite QB to make noise outside of the conference.

JetoGrov 4 FEED ME HYPE!!! This is the year for James Franklin, trust me, I can feel it. Stud running backs, Allar might be that guy, a filthy defense. Everyone wants to talk UM and OSU, but I think Penn State wins the B10 this year...then fizzles out in the playoffs a la Michigan.

ScaratheBear 6 At some point, Penn State HAS to make the leap right? Since 2016's B1G Champion team, Penn State has been the bridesmaid of the Big 10. Ohio State and Michigan have kept the Nittany Lions at bay, but this season has the feel of something different. 5 star QB? Check. Talented, veteran roster from top to bottom? Check. Favorable schedule? Check. All Penn State needs to do is best Ohio State in the Shoe and Michigan at home. No biggie right?

throwaway_6786 7 The Lions are #7, exactly where I had them at the end of 2022. I'll be honest, #7-#11 on this list are fairly interchangeable, but Penn State looks like they'll have a rock-solid defense, a great O-line (it feels so good to say that and mean it), and the Singleton/Allen duo at RB. Two reasons they're not higher: They haven't found ways to break through against OSU/Michigan and Allar + the WR room are unknown quantities.

FourteenClocks 9 This has to be the year, right? James Franklin now finds himself in the same spot as James Harbaugh did until *very* recently--capable of winning all the games except for the big ones. There's enough Drew Allar belief to go around, and with some defensive stars and the Miami coach who isn't currently embarrassing himself, these guys have expectations to beat Ohio State AND Michigan. I'd like to see it.

TinderForMidgets 9 DC Manny Diaz can coach an already decent defense but the offense needs prove itself. There has been a ton of upheaval at the QB position. The team’s top two wide receivers — Parker Washington and Mitch Tinsley — and top tight end Brenton Strange have moved onto the NFL. Rising sophomore RBs Nick Singleton and Kaytron Allen could establish themselves after having excellent freshman seasons.

I am not impressed at all with Drew Allar, regardless of his physical tools, I just don't trust him. The rest of the roster is very talented, but I am not confident in this team.
