bretticus33 9 Clemson feels like a team that’s being slept on a bit, but with good reason. Their defense is still very good but Clemson’s offense has seriously struggled. Dabo Swinney showed a willingness to make the necessary changes in firing Brandon Streeter and hiring Garrett Riley away from TCU. QB Cade Klubnik takes the starting reigns but has to show improvement from last season, and what might make it difficult is limited talent in skill positions outside of Will Shipley. The defense has to rebuild up front but they’re strong all over on that side of the field.

kamiller2020 10 Klubnik has talent, it's whether the rest of the passing game has talent as well. Cade wasn't perfect but he does look like a guy who could put up big numbers if the guys around him step up. However outside Antonio Williams, Will Shipley, and Jake Bringstool that is a massive question. The WR room for Clemson has not been drawing rave reviews from camp which is a huge concern given the Tigers have had this issue for the past 3 seasons and it's really hampered their offense. Will Shipley will be a potential All-American once again but it'd be nice if somebody young in the WR room like Cole Turner stepped up and gave Clemson some versatility at wideout. The offensive line returns 4 starters which should be a huge help for Cade. Defensively, they'll be great The question is whether this is a top 20 defense or a top 3 defense. Xavier Thomas returns for another season along with two other defensive line starters but the loss of two 1st round picks on the DLine is a huge hole they don't have a obvious fill for. Clemson does have the best linebacking duo with Jermeiah Trotter Jr. and Barrett Carter both being future NFL starters. While Clemson's secondary was disappointing last season, they bring back 4 starters who hopefully will improve next season. Clemson has national title potential, but they're going to need to make some major strides in the passing offense and defense if they want to return to the playoffs in 2023.

Corgi_Koala 11 Clemson and Dabo still get the benefit of the doubt from me, but the DJU disaster and Clemson's lack of transfer portal activity has me a little lower. This is Dabo's year to prove he's still an elite coach contending for titles. He has the talent to do it but his recent struggles (relative to prior success) has me pegging them as the second best ACC team.

crownebeach 12 I'm kinda punting on Clemson. Dabo Swinney is still a great coach and they're finally recruiting at a level we thought they would. And I don't think that Cade is overrated or fraudulent or any of those other internet words. But they don't have much of an identity at the moment; I don't know where their strong and weak units are.

fredmerc111 12 I think a new offensive coordinator and Garrett Riley is the correct way to go. in every year where Clemson has a great QB, they make the playoff. Every year they don’t, they lose two games. which will it be this time?

JetoGrov 1 Look, I don't love it. I don't feel good about it, but I can't get over the amount of talent Clemson has and the opportunity they have to run the ACC. The season is basically a one-game showdown with Florida State (who I don't think has quite caught Clemson yet). I'm swinging for upside here and saying that Riley unlocks Cade (who could do what Deshaun and Trevor never did and win a Heisman), the defense is good-great as usual, and the year ends with Dabo back on top.

ScaratheBear 8 For all the doom and gloom surrounding the Tigers, here's the facts. Clemson was a point away from being in the playoff. They won the ACC for the 7th time in 8 years. They brought in the latest hotness with Garrett Riley to spearhead a new offensive effort. Clemson sits atop the ACC throne, and they'll remain there until someone forcibly takes it from them.
spaceblev11 8 Dabo Swinney is an anagram of Soybean Wind. Yeah they'll be the best in the ACC, but what does it actually mean?

throwaway_6786 8 They've been ACC champs in 7 of the last 8 seasons, so it's hard to leave them out of the top 10. Dabo Swinney is still there, the defense is still strong, and Cade Klubnik showed me some flashes of solid QB play in limited time. It still remains to be seen if the Tigers can get back to the heights of 2015-2020 and 6 straight CFP appearances, but certainly they deserve some love for a solid 2022 season (but only in the preseason poll).
TinderForMidgets 8 Clemson is a modern day powerhouse but still have many weaknesses. While their running game is excellent with the dynamic duo of Will Shipley and Phil Mafah, their offensive line remains a concern. Quarterback play from Cade Klubnik is positive. The secondary struggles mightily in 2022 and is a massive question mark if the Clemson Tigers hope to win it all once again.

FourteenClocks 13 'Two time national championship-winner coach gets best coordinator hire of 2023' is a headline that should scream POWERHOUSE, but little ol' Clemson still has its doubters. And, granted, they have shown their humanity since getting pantsed in their last CFP appearance, but if the routine ACC champions make a couple of whoopsies that keep them out of the national conversation, and they seem to have learned some lessons from that, who's to say that they can't have a fortuitous (read: undefeated) season and get invited back to the dance?
