charmingcharles2896 Ballot for 2023 Preseason

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Aug. 22, 2023, 12:52 a.m.

Overall Rationale: This is a poll based on my own personal opinions of the teams as well as what i value in teams.

Rank Team Reason
Georgia Bulldogs They're the death star, the center of college football until proven otherwise.
Michigan Wolverines Michigan returns so many pieces and has a very favorable schedule. They're a very talented team primed for big things.
Ohio State Buckeyes Not super sold on OSU's defense, nor their QB room, but the team is consistently good everywhere else and I trust Ryan Day to make good choices.
USC Trojans Caleb Williams & Lincoln Riley... nuff said.
Alabama Crimson Tide Not super sold on Bama this year, but Saban is still Saban. The team wasn't super physical last year and I hope to seem more physicality from the Tide this season.
LSU Tigers I think Brian Kelly is building something special down in Baton Rouge.
Oregon Ducks Bo Nix is a solid QB and they have an underrated roster, expect good things.
Texas Longhorns Is Texas back? No, but the roster is talented and I expect at least eight or nine wins from them this year.
Clemson Tigers Garrett Riley with Cade Klubnik is going to be an insane combination, expect an explosive offense from the Tigers.
Florida State Seminoles Not sure what to think of FSU, the roster seems supremely talented, but i'm not super confident in this coaching staff's ability to get the most of them.
Utah Utes Cam Rising is a great quarterback and this Utes team plays a really physical brand of football that I believe is going to win them games this year, as long as they stay healthy.
Washington Huskies Michael Penix Jr. is a baller and I believe he's going to be even better this year for the Huskies.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish I am a firm believer that this Fighting Irish team is overrated by most people. The don't have a proven QB, nor do they play a particularly physical brand of football. I'm not confident in their coaching staff as well, so don't expect anything close to championship caliber football from this team. They'll scare some teams, but when the chips are down, they won't beat OSU, nor teams like Clemson.
Tulane Green Wave Returning as much talent as they are, while retaining Willie Fritz, expect the Green Wave to shock people and return to the New Years Six.
Oregon State Beavers Returning their QB and a stout defense, this Beavs team could be special in what is looking like the last year of PAC-12 football.
Tennessee Volunteers Joe Milton will never be the QB that his predecessor, Hendon Hooker was. The dude is like an ICBM with no guidance computer, all power no precision. Other than that, the Vols return a lot of talent and may win a fair number of games. Joe Milton holds them back though.
Illinois Fighting Illini The Fighting Illini play a physical, slugging match brand of football that will brutalize a few unsuspecting teams. They lost a lot of pieces, but Brett Beilema is a good coach and I trust him to build another solid squad.
South Carolina Gamecocks Beamer Ball is back in SC, and I am a firm believer that this team will pull another big upset this year.
Florida Gators Not a fan of the Gators this year, they're replacing a bad QB with an unknown quantity. Billy Napier isn't looking like a man up to the job as Florida Had Coach, so i'm not confident.
Penn State Nittany Lions Not sure that James Franklin is the answer at Penn State, the team never seems able to get over the hump, much like Michigan from 2015-2020. I am not impressed at all with Drew Allar, regardless of his physical tools, I just don't trust him. The rest of the roster is very talented, but I am not confident in this team.
Maryland Terrapins Look for the Terms to shock people this year. Taulia Tagovailoa is a stud and he may end up being the best QB in the BigTen by years' end.
TCU Horned Frogs Losing Garrett Riley will prove to be a huge loss for this team, as will having to replace a good quarterback. Not confident, but they're on my radar this time around.
North Carolina Tar Heels Drake Maye is a beast, but that defense was shockingly bad last season. If the defense takes a big leap forward, then expect the Tar Heels to be a big player in the ACC. If the defense doesn't improve, then don't expect them to win more than seven games.
James Madison Dukes JMU won a ton last year and I expect them to do so again.
Kansas Jayhawks This is a team that was really good before injury, watch for them to be good again.
