nw____ Ballot for 2023 Preseason

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Aug. 19, 2023, 2:52 p.m.

Rank Team Reason
Georgia Bulldogs QB questions but it’s hard to doubt them with their talent and resume
Michigan Wolverines Mostly here because they have a 7/10 QB and a lot of other top teams don’t
LSU Tigers May not be starting their best QB but the roster is stacked (not a ton of depth at some positions though)
Ohio State Buckeyes Ahead of Bama because I trust their QB questions more than Bama’s. Surely Day and that WR core make up for a lot. Knowles should be better this year.
Alabama Crimson Tide Who is the QB? Who are the WRs?
Penn State Nittany Lions Hard to trust Allar without seeing him, but the hype is there
Clemson Tigers Ahead of FSU by the thinnest margin. Riley will be good for Cade.
Florida State Seminoles The team most likely to prove me wrong. I don’t doubt them as much as I trust the teams in front of them.
USC Trojans Could see them finish in the playoff or wind up in the Bad Boy Mowers Bowl (ok not that bad). Just too many questions about the defense to have them higher but they have the best player in the country playing QB
Tennessee Volunteers If Milton plays like he did in the Orange Bowl, they may be a top 4-5 team
Washington Huskies Trust Penix
Texas Longhorns Highest variance in possible outcomes for Texas. Could be (and should be) a top 10 team that threatens for a playoff spot. Will they play like it?
Utah Utes Trust Kyle here and looking forward to Cam’s last ride
Oregon Ducks Only barely behind Utah to me. Could be the best team in the PAC-12 if they can the defensive line fixed up.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Another team I don’t know what to make of. Lost some key players but gained a top 10 QB. Wouldn’t be shocked to see them make a real push, but I still want to see it first.
Kansas State Wildcats They’ll be good. They always are.
Kentucky Wildcats Could Leary be a top 2-3 QB in the SEC? Yes. Will he be? Not sure. Would it matter for Kentucky’s ceiling? Also don’t know.
Tulane Green Wave They can go as far as they want, I think.
Iowa Hawkeyes Best QB in years (and he is really just kinda fine). Lost some key defenders but I have faith that Phil Parker will throw some white 3* out there and things will be fine. Think they’re more the 5th best team in the B1G than the 4th, but it also depends on how quickly things click for Wisconsin and Fickell (not sure if Mordecai will be up to the level of competition, plus lots of scheme changes).
Maryland Terrapins If Taylor stays healthy they have the pieces to be the 4th best team in the B1G.
Pittsburgh Panthers They’ll be good. They always are.
UTSA Roadrunners Big loss at WR, but QB and Traylor are running it back. Should be an interesting year at the top.
Oregon State Beavers This just seems right, especially if we somehow see a resurgence from DJ
Texas Tech Red Raiders Lots of potential, questions on the defensive line.
Purdue Boilermakers Card could be legit. They have a great chance of pushing Maryland for the 4th best team in the B1G.
