crownebeach 4 I was bullish on Penn State in the preseason and still am. Is 4th too high? Probably! But they have strong credentials across the board -- 10th SP+, 13th FPI, 4th SOR, 15th 247 Composite -- where most other teams contending for this spot are deficient in one or more of those areas. They are not particularly close to No. 3 Bama, but someone has to be 4, and Michigan, Oklahoma, and USC all made me very unhappy with them.

PumpSmash 14 Penn State is quietly putting together a really solid 4-0 start. They've really only struggled against a good Purdue team, and every other game has been dominant. The win against Auburn, as bad as they are, is still really impressive. Penn State I think will only get better, too.

Due_Connection179 9 My favorite team to bet on then have them break my heart basically every season. I'm always higher than most on Penn State, and they always seem to start 5-0 then finish 8-4 every season, but hopefully it's different this year. Assuming they get through Northwestern next Saturday (and Michigan wins both of its games the next two weeks) we are looking at a top-10 matchup between the Nittany Lions & the Wolverines. That Michigan game begins a 3-game gauntlet of: at #8 Michigan, vs #13 Minnesota, and vs #3 Ohio State. (Spoiler alert, I have them winning all 3 currently).
