T-Thugs Ballot for 2022 Week 5

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 26, 2022, 10:17 a.m.

Overall Rationale: Each week I try to rank teams based on what they have accomplished this year to date. My ballots have lots of movement week over week through the first half of the year and I don't rank teams that are just highly hyped unless they have beaten someone worth mentioning. My ballot will look more like everyone else's ballots in the back half of the season.

Rank Team Reason
Georgia Bulldogs Georgia is undefeated at 4-0. Their blowout win over Oregon continues to impress as Oregon picked up another nice win this weekend.
Tennessee Volunteers Tennessee is 4-0 with nice wins over Pitt (3-1) and Florida (2-2, nice win over Utah).
NC State Wolfpack North Carolina State moved to 4-0 and gets a nice little boost on their best win with Texas Tech (3-1) knocking off Texas.
Penn State Nittany Lions Penn state is 4-0 with their best win being over Auburn (3-1). They also have a win over 2-2 Purdue.
Ohio State Buckeyes Ohio State is 4-0 after a total domination of Wisconsin (2-2). Their win over Notre Dame also looks a little better after ND got back on the win train and pushed around a decent North Carolina team (3-1) in chapel hill.
USC Trojans USC moved to 4-0 after picking up a tough win against Oregon State (3-1). They have a huge game with Utah next week and a chance to lock down a spot in the top of the polls.
Clemson Tigers Clemson moved to 4-0 with a nice win this weekend over Wake Forest (3-1). They play NC State next week and could really make some moves if they win that one.
Florida State Seminoles Florida State is 4-0 after destroying a bad Boston College team. Their best win is over LSU (3-1).
Kansas Jayhawks Kansas moves to 4-0 by defeating Duke (3-1).
Alabama Crimson Tide Alabama is 4-0. Their win over Texas takes a bit of a hit as they lost again and are now 2-2, but they also have a blowout win over Vanderbilt (3-2).
Michigan Wolverines Michigan moves to 4-0 with a win over previously undefeated Maryland (3-1).
Kentucky Wildcats Kentucky moved to 4-0. Their best win is over Florida (2-2).
Oregon Ducks Oregon is my top 1 loss team. They got crushed by Georgia to open the year but have followed that up with some really nice wins over BYU (3-1) and Washington State (3-1)
Kansas State Wildcats Kansas State has a weird loss to Tulane, but they also have a really nice win over Oklahoma (3-1).
Texas A&M Aggies The Aggies got a really nice win over Arkansas (3-1) this weekend. Their win over Miami (2-2) is a little bit less impressive, though. They also have a loss to Appalachian State.
Minnesota Golden Gophers Minnesota is undefeated after crushing Michigan State. They should probably be 6-0 when they play Penn State next month. They may slip a bit in my rankings though as the quality of their competition isn't really there.
Washington Huskies Washington is 4-0, but their win over MSU looks a little less impressive this week. They have a big game next week vs UCLA and can move up with a win there.
BYU Cougars BYU has a loss to Oregon but also has a very nice win over Baylor (3-1).
Baylor Bears Baylor lost to BYU but picked up a nice win this weekend over Iowa state (3-1)
Syracuse Orange Syracuse is 4-0 but lacking on the quality wins. Best win is probably Purdue (2-2) or Louisville (2-2)
UCLA Bruins UCLA is undefeated at 4-0 but lacking a quality win. They play Washington next week and will either move up bigtime or drop out.
Ole Miss Rebels Ole Miss is undefeated but their best win is probably Tulsa (2-2). They play Kentucky next week and can make moves with a win there.
Arkansas Razorbacks Arkansas dropped their first game this weekend against Texas A&M. They have a nice win over Cincinnati though (3-1)
Iowa State Cyclones Iowa State is 3-1 after losing to Baylor but still has a nice win over Iowa (3-1)
James Madison Dukes I had a hard time deciding whether to rank James Madison or Oklahoma State in this spot, but James Madison has wins over Middle Tennessee (3-1) who just stomped Miami at their place and Appalachian State (2-2) who beat Texas A&M at their place.
