They lost at Tennessee exercising 20 years of demons and death valley at night, both as time expired. For my money, they're still the third best team in the country - but these are rankings and not an evaluation of talent. Trying to marry those two things is how they end up here, behind the teams they lost to but ahead of the Pac-12 3 and other questionable one loss teams.

bretticus733	12	It’s amazing how a bad season for Alabama is 2 losses. Alabama blew it against LSU and lost on the last play of the game for the 2nd time. The Tide are so agonizingly close to being undefeated with wins over Tennessee and LSU. Instead, they’re out of CFP contention and don’t control their destiny in the SEC.

Dawg-Bite	11	Bama’s best win is Texas, who is in my top 20, and I don’t think that win is better than Utah’s win over USC. However, Utah lost to Florida… Plus while I’ve seen that Cam Rising is back for Utah I still don’t know much about other injuries, and no matter what I can’t really deny the clear talent advantage Bama has over them.

Comit22	12	Oh how the mighty have fallen. Losses to #5 Tennessee and #11 LSU aren't bad at all for a 2-loss team, but do not indicate a true powerhouse team. The only one of Alabama's wins that still counts as a ranked win is #20 Texas and, truthfully, the only reason the Tide are still this high is because of reputation.
