atchemey 1 This is with minimal research compared to previous years. This is a projection of where the teams will end up at the end of the season. I anticipate this being horribly controversial, but that's by design. Let's have fun in year 3!
Atoodope 1
Austinperroux 1 National Champions...duh
BabyBladder 1 14-1 National Championship winners, only loss to Texas A&M.
BaldEagle88 1
BoboIsDead 1 Though repeat champions are rare at best in the modern era, Alabama proved that they have the right tools to do just that a mere few years ago.  With multiple straight #1 recruiting classes, Saban's system crafted to perfection, and only a few teams in their way within the same stratosphere of talent, Alabama seems like the obvious choice for top spot.

djowen68 1 Most Talent, Best Coach*Note: My poll is really fluid the first few weeks. I don't like the idea that preseason polls dictate how teams are ranked throughout the year, so I'm never opposed to blowing my poll up after Week 1. It's a fine line between being overreactionary and letting the preseason poll set the tone too much. I like to give weight to teams with the best wins, so for example FSU could jump up to #1 after beating Ole Miss, and Ole Miss could jump up to #1 after beating FSU.

mgmfa 1 Generally speaking, picking Bama is as safe as it gets. No reason to believe they wont be #1.
mickeyquicknumbers 1 Returning starters? Questions about depth? who cares. Alabama has lapped the field so comically in the department of recruiting and developing personnel that they are the presumptive favorite until we have results on the field to suggest otherwise.
mjurkiewicz 1
monkeymatt1836 1 Nick Saban is our king, and we are all his peons. Having won 4 of the last 7 titles, including last year, Alabama is currently CFB's marquee program. Even though the Tide will be breaking in their 3 new QB in as many years, the offense should continue to roll under OC Lane Kiffin. The defense should be stout as well, and be able to reload any attrition to graduation and the NFL draft with a suitable 5 star recruit. The Tide will certainly be tested this year as they play USC, Ole Miss, Arkansas, Tennessee, and LSU away from Bryant-Denny Stadium. Until proven otherwise, Alabama should be penned in for a CFP spot come December 31.
MrDoctorSmartyPants 1
MrTheSpork 1 Very, very hard to pick against the Crimson Tide, they've essentially got a pole position for a third consecutive CFP slot and possibly back-to-back championships. The biggest concern is the QB, which has been parroted everywhere, and that could prove problematic against USC in the season opener. Until then, I don't see a reason to move them down at all.
mynameisjona 1
Mythic514 1 Lost some key players, but as long as they have Saban, the top ranking as retuning champs is warranted.

solo_22 1 The king keeps his throne until he shows a weakness. Some backfield uncertainty but I'm sure the machine will be ready to tear the souls from people who worship Chaos.
SpeedxKills 1 Nothing needs to be said here except, see "y'all" Sept. 3rd!!!
SpeedxKills 1 Uh... seriously?
spsellers 1
ssnider23 1 They won the Championship, had a good offseason getting the #1 recruiting class, and continue to bring up talent just like Alabama always does.
stephenbawesome 1
Stockz 1
sunburn_on_the_brain 1 Defending champion (and to me that's an automatic #1 ranking until you lose, that's a privilege that comes with winning the title) and they're just loaded.
swanky-k 1
swodaem2005 1 The Alabama Crimson Tide are the returning national champions. They have significant question marks at Quarterback, Running Back, and the Offensive Line. Depth concerns are emerging along the defensive line and secondary. Still, minor cracks in their armor should not belie their not insignificant talent advantage over every other program. Until proven otherwise, the Crimson Tide should be considered the favorites.
T-Thugs 1 Defending champs. Still loaded. An opening weekend win over USC will keep the Tide on top or near the top.
tabelz 1 You'd have to lose a lot to lose the top spot in my poll as champions. They lose some, but I expect them to reload. Might start shaky, expect that to wear off quick.

chceman 2 If Clemson and Bama could be 1a and 1b, I would choose that option, but against my better judgment, I'm putting them at 2. I know they don't need a great proven QB to win another national title, but that question mark would normally put a team outside the top 10, so I feel like 2 is the most natural spot for them heading into the season.

eclectic_tastes 2 I think I read a stat that, if they wanted to, they could start exclusively 5-star players this season.  Its amazing, but not terribly surprising given that they have been #1 in recruiting since r/cfb has been a thing.  Only problem is, it looks like they will start a true freshman at QB this year.  I'm sure he's the real deal, but so was Jeremy Johnson, right?Gotta give the Tigers a slight edge for preseason #1.

kamikazeguy 2 With the best defense in College Football, Alabama is an easy pick for the top 2, but may struggle early on offensively if they can't find a QB capable of managing their offense as well as making plays, given that they don't return any elite RB's.  Damien Harris and Bo Scarborough will both be key to Alabama's success this year.
kdbvols 2 I'm not sold.  Yes, they do reload, but they aren't perfect.
