corundum9 Ballot for 2016 Preseason

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Aug. 22, 2016, 10:01 p.m.

Overall Rationale: nan

Rank Team Reason
Clemson Tigers Heisman caliber QB with ample playoff experience, favorable schedule, and a great coach. Alabama might as well be 1B, but I'm giving Clemson the edge since they don't have to replace both  starting QB and Heisman winning RB.
Alabama Crimson Tide Saban dynasty on a reload.
LSU Tigers
Oklahoma Sooners
Florida State Seminoles
Ohio State Buckeyes OSU is replacing a whole lot of NFL talent, but with JT Barrett returning and Urban Meyer at the helm, it's hard not to imagine OSU outside of playoff contender discussion. I will probably adjust teams 3-6 as more games are played, with the OSU/OK match up looming week 3.
Stanford Cardinal Need to see how they replace Hogan before moving them higher. Afraid Pac12 cannibalizes itself.
Michigan Wolverines Same story as Stanford, unsure how QB situation will unfold despite ample talent across the board. With an extremely favorable first seven games, I decided to put Michigan a bit lower than their potential and allow them to climb if they deserve it.
Tennessee Volunteers Hopefully Tenn drops their week 3 match up and I don't have to contemplate their hype through SEC play. On the other hand, it's hard seeing them lose more than two regular season games.
Houston Cougars Big statement win over FSU in their bowl game. Greg Ward is a year more experienced and I don't really see a problem with putting them this high as the Oklahoma game will sort this one out quickly.
Ole Miss Rebels
TCU Horned Frogs
Washington Huskies
USC Trojans Might be a bit higher on USC than most. I really like Adoree' Jackson's game and I think their offensive line is among the best in the country. I doubt they can beat Alabama, so they will most likely get docked a few spots depending on how that plays out.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish
Michigan State Spartans Need to see how improved their secondary is before I can put them any higher. QB play is also a major question mark.
Louisville Cardinals
Georgia Bulldogs A bit apprehensive about Georgia due to coaching change, Chubb coming off injury, and a true freshman QB. They are loaded with talent, but I'll wait to see how the refreshed program gels early on.
UCLA Bruins
Oregon Ducks
North Carolina Tar Heels
Iowa Hawkeyes Feel that I might be underrating Iowa, but their predictable style and horrendous Rose Bowl performance are weighing them down in my opinion. They dodge MSU and OSU on the schedule, so they might be a team that isn't as good as their record leads you to believe at the end of the year.
Oklahoma State Cowboys
Nebraska Cornhuskers
Texas Longhorns
