admiraltarkin 2 Honestly, probably the most complete team in the nation. A seasoned QB, great RB, strong defense. Very good argument for #1. If they beat UH and Bama struggles against USC, I'll probably move em up to #1

mgmfa 2 They might have the best QB in the country, as well as a top 5 RB. This is a scary offense.

Austinperroux 3 Took hits on defense but nowhere near as much as others. Returning quite a few power players on offense, notably a deadly backfield.

hokies220 3 As of right now they've gotta be the favorites to win the Big 12 although with a couple of huge tests in the first few weeks of the season we should know more shortly.

kamikazeguy 3 With an Elite QB in Baker Mayfield and the best proven RB tandem in College Football, Oklahoma will be set this year if the improved offensive line can create space and the young LB corps can make plays behind the line of scrimmage.

mjurkiewicz 3
monkeymatt1836 3 Boomer Sooner. Bob Stoops is one of the most successful coaches in CFB, and his 2016 Sooners will be tested right out of the gate. Oklahoma opens the season playing Houston, followed up by a battle of heavy weights in Week 3 against Ohio State. The Oklahoma offense is loaded with talent, including stud QB Baker Mayfield. Oklahoma has arguably the most talented backfield in CFB which consists of Joe Mixon and Samaje Perine. While Oklahoma did lose some solid players to the NFL, such as CB Zack Sanchez and Eric Striker, Oklahoma's defense is usually one of the best in the Big 12. Oklahoma should be favorites to win the Big 12 again this year, but we will now shortly into the season if they are contenders for the CFP or pretenders.
MrTheSpork 3 There's a bit of a trend in these rankings, which'll get broken after the third CFP team from last year. Then again, these are the teams that get the biggest benefit of the doubt after being good every year.Like Clemson, OU's QB Baker Mayfield basically is the foundation for an exceptional offensive attack; with Perine and Mixon also returning, the Sooner's offense is as flexible as it is powerful. Defensively, the LB corp is depleted, but a solid line and secondary beyond that should make up, at least in part, for the holes created by five major departures. Once again the favorite for the Big 12, Oklahoma has to avoid falling into the Texas trap, but an early-season matchup with a totally inscrutable Ohio State might be the most important game this season. That is, of course, assuming Houston comes up short two weeks prior.
myghtymouse 3
Mythic514 3 Mayfield and Perine return. I expect this team to catch the same sort of lightning in a bottle, but this time not lose to Texas. A strong team all around, and for my money I bet they have a stronger team than last year.

Xtremeloco 3 #1 thing Oklahoma must do in order for me to not look like and idiot is beat Houston.  If they lose I totally put them here as a joke.

BoboIsDead 4 With one of the longest-tenured coaches in college football, one of the best brands in college football, a conference full of question marks, and a roster full of talent, what DOESN'T Oklahoma have going for them?  With a national title and nine conference titles under his belt, Bob Stoops is a proven winner, though at times criticized for stopping short of the finish line.  If Baker Mayfield can continue to improve, Oklahoma will be a force to be reckoned with.

eclectic_tastes 4 A playoff team last season, they return 7 all-conference players and a senior QB who is an unquestioned leader.  Their explosive offense is matched up with an atheletic defense, and as a result, this is the first time I'm buying preseason Oklahoma hype since the '00s.  My pick to win the Big 12.

G-manP 4 Baker Mayfield looks like he's going to be giving Deshaun Watson plenty of competition for the Davey O'Brien Award this season as Mayfield has proved he can be quite mobile as well. They are the team to beat in the Big 12.

mickeyquicknumbers 6 Oklahoma has all the octane you could want on offense between Mayfield, Perine/Mixon, and a deep receiving corps; and the defensive line should more than hold their own despite the departure of Tapper; but losing Zach Sanchez & a thorough gutting the LB group should maybe prove to be a collective step back for the Sooner's defense. I guess you could call that a reason to be worried, but I'm not too worried.

sunburn_on_the_brain 7 These guys are a big favorite for a lot of people and I get why, but I think they've lost more than people think, especially on defense.  They'll struggle to keep Houston contained and then TCU will test them in a track meet.
T-Thugs 7 Week 1 matchup with Houston is huge for the Sooners. Will tell us if this is a playoff caliber team.

BabyBladder 8 9-3. Oklahoma loses to both Houston and Ohio State in OOC play, before going on to a record of 8-1 in the Big 12 to win it, only losing to Oklahoma State at the end.
