Blooblod 1 We've all come to accept the fact that Tua Tagovailoa is the greatest football player to ever walk the Earth and that this will be the SEC's most explosive offense ever. With both of those being true, my only real concern for this team is the secondary--the five projected starters return a combined two games started. This group will almost definitely be playing at a high level towards the end of the year, but it will be interesting to see if they experience growing pains early on. My Crimson Tide record prediction: 11-1. I think they slip up somewhere along the way, and if I were forced to pick where . . . congratulations, Missouri Tigers, you're upsetting the Crimson Tide in their own stadium on October 13th.

chrisb19 1 Nick Saban is a case of "until he proves me wrong." As nervous as I am about the turnover on the coaching staff (two new coordinators) and defensive talent sent to the NFL, plus the QB "battle," it just never feels safe to bet against the dynasty of Saban. The West is in another rebuilding year outside of the perennial powers and it seems like, yet again, the Iron Bowl will likely determine a spot in the SEC Championship.

Extra_Excrement 1 Saban is easily the greatest coach in the game at the moment. Alabama is coming off a championship season where they were able to seamlessly work freshmen into the biggest possible stage. Until proven otherwise, it's always a safe bet to rank them #1.

PHubbs 1 The Tuaissance is upon us and for every other team that isn't Bama, that's a real problem. We STILL haven't seen Tua play an entire game, but he gets three warm ups in Lamar Jackson-less Louisville, Arkansas State, and a rebuilding Ole Miss to get ready for the meat of their schedule. We already all know about the rest of the roster. The only question won't be if Bama is a playoff team, but instead, can Georgia exact revenge in the SEC title game to finally knock them out of the playoff?

bwburke94 2 I can't justify putting a team that lost 12 players to the NFL (four in the first round) in the #1 spot, but Alabama and Clemson are miles ahead of the rest of the field. With Clemson out of the way, Alabama is the clear #2.

HUSKEROYAL 2 Who else would be worthy of #2 other than the defending CFP committee champions? With Satan - I mean Saban - himself, the Tide are always a solid choice for the top of the polls. I fully expect Alabama to reach the CFP again, but this time deservingly as SEC Champion.

Miami_da_U 2 Theyve been reloading at an elite level for years. Surprised Saban isn't just going with Tua as QB1. I think rotating between the qbs isn't going to have the best effect on the offense. I really dislike when teams like Bama schedule teams like The Citadel in the final few weeks of the season. If both Bama and Clemson finished undefeated I'd rank Clemson higher, which is why I have them higher here.
mjacksongt 2 Lots of pieces to replace on D, though there is experience. Alabama's version of question marks exist at the LB spots; the secondary must be rebuilt.

mickeyquicknumbers 3 Called me crazy (or don't), but I think 3rd is a good spot for our defending champions. First point, I think this will be one of the best Alabama offenses ever. The OL will be the best it has been in years, the Harris duo at RB I think will be the best overall running back room since Lacy/Yeldon in 2012, and Tua *might* be the first true NFL quality QB they've had in the Saban era. All fine on that front. I have two concerns however dropping them to 3rd. The first is the abnormally high defensive attrition (even for Bama) - all 6 of their primary DB's are gone; 100% secondary turnover is a really big deal for everyone, everywhere, including Alabama. The defensive line despite having an all american type jumbo DE in Raekwon Davis I think will be a rebuilding unit (think 2013). The other issues that makes me nervous for Alabama is the coaching turnover, where they have undergone the biggest turnover of staff of any one year of the Saban era. Tosh Lupoi has been groomed, but it's the first time they've had someone other than a confirmed guru at DC since 2007. I don't love Mike Locksley all that much as an offensive architect either. They are still Alabama, and still have the most talented roster in the nation outright and the best head coach outright, and so they can't really drop all that far. I think a 1st round playoff exit seems right for them this year.
