52hoova 2 Only games that weren't 2+ touchdown wins last season: a 1 point win on the road against Notre Dame (10-3, #11) with a true freshman QB starting the second game of his career, a 6 point win in the Rose Bowl against OU (12-2, #3) and the Heisman winning QB who has the two highest single season passer ratings in the history of college football, and a 3 point loss against the machine ranked ahead of them. They return one of the best true freshman QBs in recent memory.   Recruiting classes 2016-2018 ranked 6th, 3rd, 1st.

itsabearcannon 2 Defending runner-ups, no major losses to the program, and definitely on the upswing history-wise. Here's waiting to see if Kirby keeps the standards up for year 2 or if it's a fluke.
jmac_21 2 Georgia is very real, and I like what they have returning.
PHubbs 2 Right now, I think the bulldogs are the second best team in the country. I also think they won't be making the playoff. They should be favored in every game they play this year with their three hardest games being every one they have against Tigers (I think Mullen needs at least one year to build up Florida). They should win all of those games to set up a "win and you're in" scenario for the playoff at the SEC title, but until then, you should expect to watch an extremely efficient Georgia look every bit like a champion on the way there.

xelphin 2 UGA lost some key talent to the NFL, but their latest recruiting class is absolutely stacked and the dawgs will be hungry for revenge. They have a bit to prove, but it would be unfair to not have them nipping at Bama's heels at #2.

boxman151515 3 I figured Smart would build Georgia up into a powerhouse at some point, but getting as close as they did to a national title in 2017 was a surprise. I suspect Georgia will give Alabama fits in the SEC for years to come. So much talent on both sides of the ball.

chrisb19 3 UGA feels a lot like Bama - a manageable schedule aside from the Auburn game and a tricky week 2 trip to a rebuilt SCar team, a lot of guys leaving on defense, and a question at quarterback. Unlike Bama, however, there's virtually no coaching turnover, so an offense and defense that were both clicking last season shouldn't suffer too much lost production. Taking advantage of Tennessee and Florida rebuilding, Georgia should be back in contention for the SEC title and a shot at the playoff.

HUSKEROYAL 3 Georgia was very close to winning the CFP, but like every other Georgia sports team, they blew it. They return great players on offense, but there are concerns on defense (notably the loss of Roquan Smith). They might drop a game during the season, but I still think they'll at least win the SEC East.

woakley 3 Young team last year, and returning majority along with a talented recruiting class. One of the better quarterbacks in the SEC. Team that was a second half away from winning the natty.

Blooblod 4 Jake Fromm was always going to be the week one starter, but even if Justin Fields takes meaningful snaps both QBs will have a shiny new weapon to throw to in Cal transfer Demetris Robertson. If he proves to be the same player that he was before injury, Robertson is one of the most dangerous receivers in the country and UGA's offense could have a dynamic that it lacked last season. Make no mistake, the run game is still going to be what this offense is all about and the line blocking for runners could somehow be better than last year's despite losing first round draft pick Isaiah Wynn. Concerns about the defense might be warranted . . . to some extent. Losing Roquan Smith is huge and probably isn't something that can just be patched over, but this defense is still stacked. Look for D'Andre Walker to have a monster year; he had 13.5 TFLs last year despite being behind Lorenzo Carter. The secondary is home to two potential All-Americans in DeAndre Baker and J.R. Reed. My Bulldogs record prediction: 12-0. Congratulations UGA, you're the only team that I have going undefeated in the regular season.

JeromesNiece 4 Georgia looks poised to being a national title contender again in 2018, and no one on their schedule really scares me. I predict they will play Bama in the SEC title game and may make the playoff regardless of the outcome of that game.

Miami_da_U 4 They are killing it in recruiting. However they did just lose a shit load of upperclassman that all chose to return which created that dream season they had last season. Pretty solid schedule, so they'll be tested for sure. I don't think they're as good of a team as they were last year though. I wont be surprised if they win out or if they drop 2 games. But right now they're more proven than Miami, Oklahoma (w/out Baker), and tOSU (possibly w/out Meyer). So they deserve to be ranked higher at the moment.

mickeyquicknumbers 5 Georgia is tough cookie to pin down this preseason. While they are quickly getting to that Ohio State/Alabama level of talent, I think Smarts recruiting efforts need about one more year to translate to them putting together a continuous stream of goliath teams. I think even with the passing game taking a step forward, this team as a whole will dip slightly from where they were last year due sheerly to the loss of volume of veterans in Chubb, Michell, Wynn at LT, Roquan Smith, Trenton thompson, Lorenzo Carter, Aaron Davis, Dominick Sanders, John Atkins, Davin Belamy, Malcolm Parrish & Reggie Carter.

Extra_Excrement 6 Georgia's offense will be much stronger than last year's squad. Georgia could have another one of the best offensive lines in the country and Fromm will have many targets suiting up (Nauta, Godwin, Ridley, and newcomer Robertson). Chubb+Michel will be missed but Swift will be more than serviceable and Herrien+Holyfield will get touches until Zeus and company are fully transitioned. The defense will have to reload many crucial spots but the talent Kirby and Mel have for said reload doesn't leave me too worried. The offense might have to carry the team for the beginning of the season but by November the Dawg defense should be clicking. They may not end up as a top 10 defense this year but I still see them ending up as a top 20 unit. Whelp. As an update I just saw that Zeus injured his other leg. This is definitely a bummer and I wish the kid a speedy and complete recovery. It's really unfortunate but the offense will likely be more pass heavy than recent years anyways so there's no reason for Zamir's recovery to be rushed.

mjacksongt 7 I think the young RBs and LBs are going to be good, but not good enough to replace 3 standout seniors - not yet. I think Roquan Smith was a bigger loss than the preseason articles are talking about. And that monster freshman class is still freshmen. They'll be very good - just not playoff level in 2018.

TheJeemTeam 7 Georgia was an easy choice to put at the top of this tier over Stanford and Notre Dame.
