TheJeemTeam 8 I ranked Stanford over Notre Dame due to being a more experienced team and having maybe the best RB in the country in Bryce Love.

chrisb19 11 Bryce Love is back, David Shaw is still there, and Stanford will continue to bring their brand of jumbo packages and body-shot football to the Pac12. While they're not overloaded with talent like Washington, they're still widely considered the second best team in the Pac12 North. A tricky schedule that opens with SDSU and then features a week 2 matchup against USC, plus November dates with both Washington and UCLA will make it a tough run to come through unscathed. But they're still one of the top teams in the conference.

JeromesNiece 12 Stanford just feels right at home in the 10-20 range. Bryce Love will be a beast this year (again) but I don't see them getting past Washington.
mickeyquicknumbers 12 I picked Stanford higher than most last year. That was a mistake for three reasons. First, the passing game took a while to find itself - that *should* not be quite as much of an issue this year as I expect Costello to mature or be beaten by a player who does make the passing game very good. Second, the offensive line had some uncharacteristic issues (stanford ranked 101st in rushing success rate), which I think will also be fixed with the maturation of some of the best recruits in the nation. Third, the defense was top-to-bottom lacking. They lose a tremendous amount of experience this year. I think the offense will return to being on the top offenses in the nation, but the defense scares me too much to put them any higher.

GenialGiant 13 Stanford got off to a rocky start last season, and didn't end the season the way they would have liked, but 10-4 is still nothing to sneeze at and Stanford looks to be in a good position going into the 2018 season.

52hoova 14 They have a running back who is pretty good.
Blooblod 14 For the first time in seemingly forever, the Stanford defense is actually a pretty big concern of mine. Bobby Okereke leads a LB corps that should be decent and Alijah Holder could have a big year at CB, but outside of that I think it's fair to question this defense. An unproven d-line could cause problems. The line on the other side of the ball could be Stanford's best in at least a few years however. Look for the line to take another step forward with five potential all-conference picks. Having the best RB in the country run behind a line like this is a recipe for a stellar ground game. My Cardinal record prediction: 10-2. I think Stanford gets some good breaks here, especially getting USC early, and I'm not sure they'll be as good as a 10-2 record might indicate. Their road game against Washington is a tough one that I have the Cardinal losing, but before that happens I think Arizona State pulls of a shocking upset in the desert.
boxman151515 14 Stanford is one of the most consistent programs in the country. Expect that to be the case again. Bryce Love will tear it up in the Pac-12. If there's a team that'll beat Washington out west, this is the team.

jmac_21 14 Stanford seems to never make mistakes in games, probably why they're so hard to knock off. They could be the sleeper to win the Pac 12.

Charlemagne42 15 They have a returning Stanford Heisman (TM) winner and some engineering schematics titled "Success".
Extra_Excrement 15 Another team with another departed OC. Luckily for Stanford, they still retain the current face of their program and David Shaw has proven himself as a coach that can make Stanford seasons consistently good (he only has two seasons with more than 3 losses). However, outside of the UC Davis and Oregon State games they don't exactly have any "gimme" games on their schedule. I predict that they'll start slow and drop ~3 games before rounding out the season and finishing strong.

HUSKEROYAL 15 Standford has been a solid program under Shaw, and I expect that to continue this year. They may not have as much talent on paper as Washington, but their style gives them a chance to compete for a Pac 12 title.

woakley 17 Bryce Love? Check. K.J. Costello? Check. Yes they lost 3 regular season games, the PAC 12 championship and their Bowl game. But of those 5 losses only one was more than a touchdown. They won some close ones too, but I think more of those close losses go their way with another year of experience under their belt

PHubbs 18 Bryce Love might be even better this year than last year, and if he is, Stanford could surprise a ton of people as the PAC 12 favorite. The most consistent PAC team of this last decade has set themselves up for a great season if they can get all of their new pieces on the defensive side of the ball to produce. History says that Shaw's squad will be ready, but even if they're not, Love might drag this team to a PAC title by himself.
