GenialGiant 6 Auburn had a very good 2017, defeating national champion Alabama, and are looking good heading into 2018.
joebob431 6
mjacksongt 6 Less to replace than Georgia or Alabama, but less talent than either to do it, and less of a track record than Alabama at least. They've got to retool a running game that looked pretty bad without Kerryon Johnson, but most of the rest of the team comes back.

Charlemagne42 7 Can't put them higher because they lost to UCF. Can't put them lower because they haven't had any offseason problems, really.
chrisb19 7 Auburn loses 2 of their star RBs, but Malzahn's run game scheme turns out 1000-yard rushers consistently. Paired with one of the more exciting QBs in the league, Auburn should continue to have an aggressive and efficient offense paired with Kevin Steele's reliably stout defensive unit. A brutal schedule that opens with Washington and closes, as usual, with games against UGA and Bama in the span of 3 weeks will certainly test this team. But if they take 2 out of 3, they should be odds-on favorites to get into the playoff, SEC title or no.

woakley 7 Jarret Stidham returns to QB a team that made its way to an SEC championship game and was possibly an SEC championship loss away from making the playoff at 9-2. Lost some talented players (Kerryon Johnson), but Gus has proven that he can replace players and replicate the run game success.

52hoova 8 Auburn hasn't shown they can string two good seasons together in the past decade... but here I am, thinking this is the year they buck the trend despite playing Washington OOC, @ Mississippi State, @ Georgia, and @ Bama.

boxman151515 9 Unfortunately for Auburn, they play in the same conference as Alabama and Georgia. Fortunately for them, their passing attack should be lights-out with Stridham and a strong receiving corps, and the defense should be one of the best in the country. Don't count them out.

mickeyquicknumbers 9 Regardless of everything, every year, predicting Auburn feels like a shot in the dark. Stidham and an improving group of receivers should open up the passing game this year; but the running game will need to rely more on Martin who I'm not sure can replicate the strong ground game they had last year from Pettway and Johnson. The total offensive line reset has me nervous, but everyone outside of the top-5 or 6 teams have question marks littering their starting lineup. Defensively the front 7 will be deep and talented, being defined by a top-5 quality defensive line, while Kevin Steele continues to baffle LSU and Clemson fans everywhere.

Extra_Excrement 10 Auburn is an odd team as I can never truly predict where the Gus Bus will take them. Like I said before, the Washington game will be a huge sign of how these teams' seasons will go. It could very well be a playoff implication game and for our sake (as well as the players' safety) I hope it's better than the Chick-fil-a kickoff game from last year. Kerryon Johnson will be missed since the guy was simply a beast. Stidham will probably play incredibly well. Games @ Tuscaloosa and Athens late-season will be tough especially since both teams are looking for regular-season revenge. Overall, Auburn returns as much as Georgia but Auburn's defense has the slight advantage of returning more.

HUSKEROYAL 10 This team was interesting down the stretch last year, with wins against both CFP finalists, but losses against one of those CFP teams in the SEC Championship game as well as the loss in the Sugar Bowl to National Champions UCF. There is a lot to like about this team on paper as well, but Auburn has struggled to deliver with expectations in some previous seasons.
itsabearcannon 10 I see Auburn right now as on a downswing with a disappointing end to 2017. Hopefully they prove me wrong.

PHubbs 10 I will admit that I think the Auburn hype heading into this season has gotten a little out of hand, and even with that, I have them in the top 10. There is no denying the talent on both sides of the ball. There is just too much talent in the rest of their conference and even division for them to expect to finish the year ranked much higher than this spot. They should have beat LSU last year but every game between such highly recruiting teams can become a toss up. They should avenge that loss this year, but their two underdog victories will likely be avenged too. Ending the season with the top 2 teams in their 3 last games sets them up for an incredible season that crashes down the stretch. This Auburn team is very good, but they have just as much potential for losses like they experienced in their two post-season games last year, and I don't see them making the leap past UGA and Bama just yet. I felt the same about them against those juggernauts last year, though, so we'll see if they can prove me wrong again.

Blooblod 11 The Tigers will showcase a d-line with a freakish amount of potential. Derrick Brown, Marlon Davidson, and Dontavius Russell are all proven studs. T.D. Moultry looks to be the new starter at the Buck LB/DE position, but Auburn has two more edge rushers behind him in Nick Coe and Big Kat Bryant that could probably start at most schools across the country. Jamel Dean and Javaris Davis should combine to be a dangerous CB duo, and while the safeties probably won't be as good as the corners they look to at least be reliable. The offense will be interesting this year. The o-line has a lot of new faces, but Marquel Harrell and Mike Horton are solid at both guard spots. If the line gives Jarrett Stidham at least decent protection he could have a huge year. Gus Malzahn always seems to find a good RB--look for Kam Martin to have a big season. My Tigers record prediction: 9-3. The Tigers have a brutal schedule for the second year in a row. If you look at it, you can probably figure out exactly who I had them losing to. Auburn could definitely win any of those three games, but it will be a tough task.

AllHawkeyesGoToHell 15 I'm not high on Auburn. Auburn rarely lives up to expectations, and there are high expectations surrounding this team.
HelioOne 15
JeromesNiece 15 This Auburn team could be excellent but their schedule is brutal. They play Washington at a neutral site and Georgia and Bama on the road, and if they lose all three like I think they will, they probably won't be in the top 10.
