2018 Week 2 Auburn Tigers Rankings

Main Poll Voters

User Rank Reason
311polo 1 Simple. They won the best matchup of the weekend.  If Washington has won, they'd be here.
Charlemagne42 1 Auburn had the best win of the week, no further qualifications needed.

GilBrandt 2 Solid win over a tough Washington team. Auburn started hot and I honestly thought they were about to steamroll the Huskies. Overall great game on both sides, so it'll be interesting to see where these two teams end up at the end of the season.
Hey_Its_Roomie 2 For now, this win looks great. It was close, and arduous, but it paid off for Auburn.
Lex_Ludorum 2 Owners of the best win on the season through 1 week!
plannedsickdays 2
relax_on_the_mat 2 The score was much closer than the game felt, but UW is either the best or second best team out of the PAC-12 so Auburn is rewarded with the #2 spot.

Blooblod 5 Auburn has the best win of the season so far, bumping them up six spots to the top of this tier (what I consider to be teams ranked 5-11). The offensive line looked a bit shaky, but it did early on last season too. The defensive line is as good as advertised.

joebob431 5 At this point, Auburn looks to have the best single win on their resume. The defense looks completely stacked, and Stidham learned how to not take 11 sacks in week 1.

standrew5998 5 Auburn teams under Gus Malzahn tend to gain steam as the season progresses, and should Auburn take down the same LSU team that embarrassed Miami on National Television, they will have a better resume than anyone else in the country by week four. Washington should still be the favorite to win the PAC-12 right now, and Auburn currently has the best win in the nation.

captain_sasquatch 6 Another super nasty defense. Stidham was solid. I think Washington may have been a bit overrated (I am guilty of overrating them as well). That being said it was still an impressive showing by the Tigers. Let's all send them our energy to defeat Bama so Bama doesn't have to play in the SEC Championship and gets an extra rest week for the playoff.
CarbonCamaroZL1 6 Beating a Top 10 team is difficult and should warrant high ratings, but it was done at home and was a close game. We need to see how good WA is before this can push Auburn's rankings higher.

chrisb19 6 Neither team looked great in this game but Auburn came through with a hard-fought win to establish themselves as a national title contender...again. The West will probably come down to the Iron Bowl for the nth time in as many years.

monkeymatt1836 6 Auburn had a statement win against the likely PAC12 best #6 Washington Huskies in a neutral site opener. Auburn's tenacious red zone defense was the difference maker in this early season top 10 match up. The Auburn DL dominated the line of scrimmage, recording 7 TFLs and 5 sacks. Jarrett Stidham and the Tiger offense did enough to win the game, but certainly didn't light the PNW on fire.

woakley 6 Impressive win over a tough Washington team. Not a truly dominant performance, but a gutty performance against a solid OOC foe. This moves them up to 6 in my poll
xelphin 6 Auburn definitely showed they could hang with the big boys by handing a loss to #9 ranked Washington at a neutral site. I think a lot of people were expecting Auburn to not show up, but their Defense shone bright.

bgr308 7 Auburn had the best win this Saturday of any team in college football, after knocking off Washington in a close game in Atlanta. The defense played well, holding the Huskies to 16 points, 5/14 on 3rd down, forcing two turnovers from Browning, and forcing a game-clinching intentional grounding penalty. Looking forward, Auburn will look to avenge their loss to LSU last season on their way to defending their SEC West title.
BosskOnASegway 7 Moving up a bit after notching the best win of week 1.

Miami_da_U 7 Impressive win. It was close though, and practically at home. Stidham is gunna be great this season. They need to beat LSU in 2 weeks to move ahead of the top 6 right now, because right now they're in tier 3. They beat LSU they'll move up to Tier 2, and really start separating themselves.

hokies220 8 I'm still not certain how much of their game was Auburn winning or just Washington losing it, either way the defense looked nasty and they didn't make stupid mistakes that ended up costing them the game. Also, I would have Ole Miss ranked here at #8 if I could with everyone else moved down one spot, that offense is lethal regardless of NCAA sanctions.
jmac_21 8 I'm not super high on the Tigers, but I have to give them credit for beating Washington. I was really impressed with the way they find a way to make a big play when it's needed.

PHubbs 10 Auburn won a top ten contest, and yet I'm a jerk who won't move them up at all. I'm sorry tiger bros. For as much as people say early season polls don't matter, Auburn will face two potential top ten games in the first 3 weeks. We should all have a very good idea of Auburn's ceiling very early, and if they beat LSU in week 3, they will definitely go higher into my top 10. The main problem I see for Auburn is that every other team in my top ten has Playoff potential. Auburn finishes the year with the top 2 teams in their final 3 games. Auburn might actually be one of the 4 best teams in the country and still not even have a shot at the playoff. I'm not ready to put them there yet, though. As the season plays on, the teams above them will sort themselves out while Auburn's early tough contests will give them plenty of chances to prove they deserve to be up there.
