Miami_da_U Ballot for 2018 Week 2

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 4, 2018, 3:41 p.m.

Overall Rationale: If you don't like My Rankings or my reasoning, don't worry, it'll probably get a major overhaul when its official week 4. Plus did this week really even happen? Like are we sure this isn't just a nightmare?

Rank Team Reason
Clemson Tigers Didn't change from Pre-Season. If they beat Texas A&M, the only chance they have at another loss is South Carolina to end the season and the ACCCG if it's Miami/Vtech...even then not much chance of either of those games. If they lose it'll be because they didn't show up. So I don't see much of a chance its not them or Bama at top 2.
Alabama Crimson Tide Didn't change from Pre-Season. They should just start Tua all season. Dominated everything. No surprise when they eventually make the CFP. Honestly I don't even see them having a chance at a loss until November. Tier 1 team.
Wisconsin Badgers Didn't change from Pre-Season. I'm not gunna be changing too much until the week 4 ballot, so they'll stay at 3 until then at least (unless something really unexpected happens.) But if tOSU is kicking ass still by then, they'll probably be moving on down. Tier 2 team.
Georgia Bulldogs Didn't change from Pre-Season. South Carolina will be a solid test. And they also have LSU in October. Their play will decide if they rank 3rd-6th by the week 4 ballot. Tier 2 team.
Ohio State Buckeyes Wooped ass. Moved up 1 cause Miami lost. They won't move up or down until they play TCU. Tier 2 team.
Oklahoma Sooners Only moved up cause Miami lost. They played well.I was hoping the UCLA game was going to be a good one, but they lost to freakin Cincinnati last weak. Gunna have an easy run till october, then WVU to end the season. Their play and others will determine whether they stay at 6 or move up starting week 4. Tier 2 team.
Auburn Tigers Impressive win. It was close though, and practically at home. Stidham is gunna be great this season. They need to beat LSU in 2 weeks to move ahead of the top 6 right now, because right now they're in tier 3. They beat LSU they'll move up to Tier 2, and really start separating themselves.
Washington Huskies Not a terrible loss, especially since it was basically a road game. I think they showed they will still be the best PAC 12 team. Certainly the best 1 loss team. But if I ask myself would they beat ND, LSU, Stanford, VTech, and WVU, which are the next best teams in all the conferences (or independent for ND) the answer is yes.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish They beat Michigan. But I just don't trust they'll play well vs a team that has elite athleticism like Miami and UGA last year. Ultimately Brandon Wimbush can lose them games, or he can win them games. Impressive win nonetheless, and the next test is Stanford and VTech. But Stanford is exactly the type of team ND will play well against. And I'm still not sold on VTech.
LSU Tigers They have a QB who doesn't suck completely, so thats a step in the right direction for LSU. Ran the ball pretty well, though that's not a surprise. Struggled in the 2nd half to do much on offense. And in the first half they did start like every drive on the 40 or better, which really helped the offense out. Defensively I think they are going to be one of the best teams. I'm definitely not completely sold on them, and think they'll definitely drop a few games. I think they probably could beat ND, but we'll see how they play vs Auburn before pushing them too high.
Stanford Cardinal Big test to see who the 2nd best team in the P12 is right now. I'd bet Stanford. USC, Oregon, and ND will determine if they are a top 10 team this season or more of a top 20 team.
Virginia Tech Hokies Well they played very well vs FSU. I still don't think they will beat ND or Miami. But other than those two teams, I don't see them losing a game. The FSU win was huge for their hopes of winning the division since Miami also has to play them, and I guarantee when Miami plays FSU it will be a completely different game, because no matter how bad or good they are, its always competitive. But VTech is clearly a top 3 ACC team. If they beat Miami this yr they'll be playing Clemson in the ACCG. If not, Miami will be most likely. Right now they deserve to be ranked ahead of The U, but we'll see for how long.
West Virginia Mountaineers Will Grier is going to get them far. They wooped UT. I think they're running the table until November. But until they start getting more wins that win isn't more impressive than VTech vs FSU or LSU, NDs, Auburns, etc. Its an uphill battle for them to get top10. But if they don't beat themselves these next 7 weeks I see them climbing pretty steadily until Texas, TCU, Okst, and OU, which is a fucking gauntlet to end the season!
USC Trojans Wasn't very impressed with the home win vs UNLV. Stanford and Texas next which will determine if they're deserving of a top15 spot or not.
Penn State Nittany Lions Yeah not a very good game at all. App St is a good team, but going to OT with them isn't the best sign. Less impressive than the USC win, but its still a win, so they can stay above miami and michigan for now. But they got Pitt and Ohio St in the next 4 weeks, so we should find out fast if they are good or not.
Miami Hurricanes That was a terrible game, plain and simple. If they don't replace Malik Rosier at QB, they simply have no shot of being a top10 team at all. If they keep Rosier they likely still win games, and maybe even run the table until ACCCG, but man with him starting they can lose any game on the schedule. Punting was horrendous - allowing LSU to start every drive in the first half on the 40 or better. Certainly didn't help the Defense which didn't play terrrible, but didn't play all that well either. The problem defensively is they blitz and sub way too much. They had so many 2nd and 3rd stringers in the game it was insane. Offensively the OLine looked like swiss cheese at times and couldn't get much of a push in the run game. WRs looked excellent though - too bad Rosier isn't good. They have 3 cupcake games coming up. They NEED to start the 3 Freshman and find out which one of them is going to take over for the rest of the season, because Rosier is the problem, not the solution.
Michigan Wolverines Didn't look very good vs ND, though it was still close. Only reason they're above MSU, is cause they also looked bad, but that was to a bad team.
Michigan State Spartans Dont think they did all that well in any aspect vs a bad opponent.
TCU Horned Frogs I mean they did what they were supposed to do. Week 3 is going to determine their season.. Pretty tough schedule throughout the season. So they definitely have the opportunity to earn a higher ranking...or crumble i guess.
Mississippi State Bulldogs did what they were supposed to do week 1. Likely gunna overwhelm KState this week. UF and AU will be good tests to end sept and kick off oct.Like TCU, they have ample chances to prove themselves.
Boise State Broncos
UCF Knights
South Carolina Gamecocks
Oregon Ducks
Utah Utes
