captain_sasquatch Ballot for 2018 Week 2

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 4, 2018, 1:27 p.m.

Overall Rationale: My eyeballs and supreme intellect. I have time this week to include rationale that no one will read. I wanted to rank Maryland and say "MARYLAND. IS. BACK BABY." as a completely original meme that clearly no one else has used or will have thought of, but I am taking this seriously.

Rank Team Reason
Alabama Crimson Tide I know it was Louisville but Tua is legit. That offense is going to score at will on just about everyone this year. On top of that it's a Saban defense so do you really think there's a better answer here?
Georgia Bulldogs I left the Dawgs at #2 because they were in the NC game last year. Really #2 and #3 are interchangeable. The Dawgs O-line is really freaking good and Jake Fromm State Farm looked good as well. USCe will be a good game to test that O-line and JFSF.
Clemson Tigers They're here until proven otherwise. That d-line is nasty. If the offense continues to develop they're a serious contender. Really curious how they handle the Texas A&M Fightin' Jimbos.
Ohio State Buckeyes tOSU clearly dominates and reserves the right to be THE true (the) OSU. Haskins looked really good. Will be interesting to see him against better competition. A little concerning they gave up 31 points to the (vastly inferior) OSU. Hopefully THE rue (the) OSU shores that up if they want to stay in contention.
Wisconsin Badgers I'm not horny for Hornibrook but the Badgers are the clear favorite in the West. They did exactly what everyone thought they were going to do against WKU and are going to do exactly what most people think they're going to do this year: win out and lose by 30+ in the B1G Championship.
Auburn Tigers Another super nasty defense. Stidham was solid. I think Washington may have been a bit overrated (I am guilty of overrating them as well). That being said it was still an impressive showing by the Tigers. Let's all send them our energy to defeat Bama so Bama doesn't have to play in the SEC Championship and gets an extra rest week for the playoff.
Oklahoma Sooners Kyler Murray looked good--though it was against an over-hyped FAU. I don't think we learned much but I still think it's going to be tough for them to lose a generational talent in Mayfield.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Was ND's defense really good or was Michigan's offense really bad? Wimbush did look good. Still think it's a big win for ND. Let's see if they can last through November which seems to be their kryptonite.
Penn State Nittany Lions B1G ADs please stop taking App State's calls. It's going to be bad and we all know it. I think this had trap game all over it and PSU still found a way to win. McSorely may look like Mark Tremonti from Creed but he's still really good. I normally would drop PSU for playing such a close game to inferior competition but 1. it's App State and 2. I think this team continues to evolve as the year goes on. I may eat my words on this one but we'll see.
Stanford Cardinal Does Bryce Love have the yips or did the highly vaunted SDSU defense just show up to play? If Costello can perform like he did this week AND Bryce Love lives up to the hype then they're going to be a serious contender for the Pac 12 and potentially the playoffs.
UCF Knights Milton is so good holy crap.
LSU Tigers My biggest jumper. I have absolutely 0 faith in Ensminger as an offensive coordinator, but Burrow looked really good and the defense was a solid LSU defense as per usual. I really, really like Coach Eaux so I hope they continue to do well.
USC Trojans https://i.imgur.com/e2oz04i.gifvFor the sake of transparency I didn't watch any of this game. Most seem to think that JT Daniels did well so they've got that going for them.
Michigan State Spartans Was this MSU's tradition of nearly shitting the bed early or are they bad again? Which option is correct? See what I did there? I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt here and I hope they're not bad again.
West Virginia Mountaineers Will Grier was 25/34 for 429 yards and 5 touchdowns against the Volsheviks.
Virginia Tech Hokies Bud Foster is top 3 defensive coordinators in the country in my opinion. Aranda, Venables, Foster. Their defense yesterday was downright impressive. That offense, on the other hand. Eek. If that offense improves, though, they're very dangerous.
TCU Horned Frogs Not a lot of competition until THE true (the) OSU. Until then I'm giving Patterson the benefit of the doubt.
Northwestern Wildcats Watch out. The cardiac cats will be causing other, better teams heart problems this year.
Washington Huskies Ouch oof owie.
Michigan Wolverines Ouch oof owie.
Oklahoma State Cowboys Gundy shaved his mullet. He loses a spot for that.
Mississippi State Bulldogs Moorhead is the real deal. They get Fitzgerald back now.
Boise State Broncos Who is going to stand up to them in the MW? It's theirs for the taking. Troy is no pushover and they looked good.
Miami Hurricanes Ouch oof owie.
Oregon Ducks This looked scary for a second for the Ducks but then Herbert woke up and lit up Bowling Green. It's very possible the Ducks upgraded going from Taggart to Cristobal.
