EpicSchwinn 1 Honorable #1 for being the champs. TBH I expect some sliding as they redefine their team after losing like half of the 1st round of the NFL draft. They may sweat a little vs. Oregon. But if they pass that test I don’t think they’ll see another serious fight until the SEC Championship game. Maybe one or two of their East opponents will keep it interesting into the fourth.

MrTheSpork 1 Extraordinary season and they return a solid set; extremely dominant but for the sole loss; coaching staff intact; excellent recruiting. There's no reason to drop UGA.

kamiller2020 2 The defending national champions are being underrated? That's how I feel listening to the conversation surrounding the Bulldogs this year. With how strong the '21 defense was for Georgia and how much they dominated the draft, people seem to be forgetting what else is still in Athens. The Georgia offense is looking to be the best it's ever been under Kirby after a terrific year last season. Sure Stetson is a sexy NFL draft prospect, but the man is a solid college QB. And surrounding him is a war chest of options at WR and RB, plus the best TE room in the 21st century. The defense will take a step back, it's not possible to be as good as they were last year. However Nolan Smith returns, Tykee Smith returns, and Christopher Smith returns. And outside the 3 smiths, you also got Jalen Carter whose a potential top 5 NFL draft pick. The DBs should be better than last year's unit, and this will still be a top 3 defense if not the best. UGA absolutely has the guns to repeat as champions, and at the very least will be in the picture til the bitter end.

nw____ 3 Even with all of the players that were drafted, I expect them to be pretty good. I expect that they'll slip up once in the regular season, though I have a hard time picking a particular team to beat them. Their path to the CFP runs through Atlanta.

eclectic_tastes 4 I'm expecting a slight step back, but Kirby has built UGA into an every year contender with a guaranteed strong defense. Offensively, I have my doubts if they can hang with the best this year.
HUSKEROYAL 4
mellolizard 4
noahthearc 4 145.0 points -> Title Contender. Lack of transfers and huge losses in production. Still a strong possibility this team can compete for the SEC and another title.

Lex_Ludorum 5
relax_on_the_mat 5
SpadeRyker 5 A bit harsh for the reigning champs to be put outside of the top 4 but I think they need to show that the defense can reload after losing so much NFL talent from the roster. If they want to ascend to the Alabama tier of teams, then their recruiting will need to sustain the success they had last year.
Charlemagne42 9 Georgia will lose early to Oregon and South Carolina, and then they'll stay infuriatingly one game behind through the entire season. They'll miss the conference title game, miss their shot at the playoff, and get stuck in a frustrating NY6 bowl against a team that they annoyingly won't beat.

dusklord1 3 Although Georgia graduated a large chunk of their historically elite defense, they recruit well enough to reload and have the 2nd or 3rd best coach in the sport. They also have the benefit of being in the SEC East. Despite being a stronger division than in the recent past, the SEC East is Georgia plus teams that will jostle for rankings in the 15-25 range (and Vandy). The West has 5-6 teams that could reasonably contend for a NY6 bowl.

donald_flap 14 This is a very hot take, but personally I think Georgia does not have what it takes to be top 5. Some of the heaviest roster losses in the nation, with the bulk of their defense gone in the draft, and their RB and WR, they will disappoint early in the season. I do not see them repeating what they did last year.
