However, they will be without Hartman for an uncertain amount of time and face a tougher conference slate this time around. These combined factors drop them a bit in the preseason rankings, but they have more than enough opportunity to rise up as well if they can persevere through it all.

nw____ 18 The big question is how soon Hartman returns (definitely wishing him the best and hope he is ok). The good news is that I don't think his absence matters much until the Florida State game. If he is back quickly, I think we'll see pretty much the same team we saw last year. If they make any improvements on the defensive side? We may be looking at another double-digit win total for Wake Forest.

However, it all hinges on star QB Sam Hartman while he misses time for a non-football related medical issue and currently has no time-table for a return.
