Overall Rationale: This model is trained using the following inputs: - returning offensive usage percentage metrics (passing, rushing, receiving) -returning offensive PPA metrics, includes transfer players (passing, rushing, receiving) - last season's final SRS rating (using the official CollegeFootballData.com SRS ratings) - current team Elo rating (using the official CollegeFootballData.com Elo ratings) - a talent index calculated using the 247 Composite ratings of rostered players, including transfers It outputs win probabilities for all games involving FBS teams, which are then converted into predicted spreads and adjusted for home-field advantage. SRS ratings are then calculated based on these predicted spreads to generate a single preseason ranking of all FBS teams. All data used is publicly available on CollegeFootballData.com and its companion API.
