jthomas694 Ballot for 2022 Preseason

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Aug. 23, 2022, 1:13 p.m.

Overall Rationale: Balance various efficiencies against what we've seen. Preseason is going to be mainly guesswork

Rank Team Reason
Alabama Crimson Tide National runner up, might have been able to win the national championship had Metchie and Williams. Probably have the best EDGE rusher combo in college football and add Eli Ricks to the defensive backfield. Best group they've had defensively in a few years. Young is an incredible QB
Ohio State Buckeyes Best offense in the country coming in. Defense is loaded with talent.
Clemson Tigers Elite talent at every level of the defense. Offensively will be more talented than everyone they play.
Georgia Bulldogs Losing too much from the defense to be as dominant and Stetson Bennet will be asked to do more.
Michigan Wolverines Return a lot on offense. Lose both elite EDGE rushers. Continue to replace coordinators.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish A lot to like on the defensive side of the ball. The OL should be better than last year, which will allow the offense to be better
Utah Utes Veteran well coached team with a talented QB.
NC State Wolfpack Very good team last year, returning a lot of production. Lost their best player and top two RBs.
Oklahoma Sooners Big drop off after 8. From 9-25 there's a lot of guessing based on overall reliability and QB play. Oklahoma has enough solid talent and BV will have them playing solid defense.
Texas A&M Aggies One of the most talented teams in the country. QB position holds them back.
Cincinnati Bearcats Very difficult to reload at a program like Cincinnati. Very good coaching and recruiting, but the top end talent will have to be replaced.
Michigan State Spartans Solid returning QB, a lot of returning production on defense. Tucker will improve the secondary.
Oklahoma State Cowboys Spencer Sanders isn't great, but he's experienced which is the only reason Oklahoma State is ahead of Baylor
Baylor Bears Most of the best parts of this team moved on. But Rhule left a solid foundation and Arranda is the right guy to continue things.
Arkansas Razorbacks Good, not great dual threat QB. Not a lot returning in terms of playmakers. OL will be a strength.
Ole Miss Rebels Kiffin once again has to reload an offense. Wouldn't bet against him with Dart, Trigg, Evans.
Kentucky Wildcats Will Levis has absurd upside. He also wasn't particularly good last year. Nothing on this team shouts out at you, but Stoops has done such a good job.
Oregon Ducks Most talented team in their division. A lot of talent that needs to come together. Would not be surprised if they contend for the CFP. Would not be surprised if they missed a bowl game.
Iowa Hawkeyes Would be much higher if they had a QB
Tennessee Volunteers Record didn't reflect it but they were the second best team in the East last year. Return a lot of production. Only thing that can hold them back is the schedule and if everyone figures out the offense/Hendon Hooker turns into a lemon
Miami Hurricanes Best QB with experience from the teams from 9-25. Tons of talent and excitement around the program. Team had a lot of excitement and talent last year too tho.
Texas Longhorns An abundance of riches in terms of offensive talent. A huge culture problem.
USC Trojans Not a whole lot different between them and Miami and Texas.
BYU Cougars Good not great team bringing back almost everything.
Fresno State Bulldogs One of the best G5 QBs in the country
