bannista7 Ballot for 2022 Preseason

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Aug. 23, 2022, 12:53 p.m.

Overall Rationale: Pre-season polls are hard enough to do without anything on the field. Coaching changes, draft losses, big season opening games and transfer portal gains/losses are the biggest weight carriers. No team note just means I felt placement wasn’t too out of the line of thinking of others. Note: Wake Forest dropped due to starting QB status.

Rank Team Reason
Alabama Crimson Tide
Ohio State Buckeyes Season opener against ND won’t pay dividends until the rest of ND schedule plays out to see how good they actually are. A 3 score win could put them at #1 for a few people though.
Georgia Bulldogs UGA lost so much talent it was hard not to drop them to 4 or 5, but the season opener against Oregon will be the decision maker for their placement in or out of the top 5.
Texas A&M Aggies
Notre Dame Fighting Irish Season opener against tOSU
Michigan Wolverines
Utah Utes
Clemson Tigers Lower than a lot of other polls due to my opinion on QB performance uncertainty and loss of DC.
Baylor Bears 12-2 team Returns 14 starters, 2nd behind Kansas
Oklahoma Sooners Lincoln Riley and Caleb Williams loss may be too much for the National rankings but they can still win the BIG XII
NC State Wolfpack
USC Trojans Hard to ignore such an increase of proven talent acquired.
Oregon Ducks Season opener against UGA and then BYU 2 weeks later will be tough for a new head coach. Bo Nix’s time at Auburn has me skeptical.
Oklahoma State Cowboys Spencer Sanders returns but without major support in Oline and running game. Defense stayed great though.
Michigan State Spartans
Wisconsin Badgers
Miami Hurricanes
Arkansas Razorbacks
Pittsburgh Panthers
Kentucky Wildcats
Cincinnati Bearcats Season opener against Arkansas and possible win has me putting them over Houston for now.
Houston Cougars Schedule strength will be the biggest issue with them even if they win by double digits each game.
Texas Longhorns Sarks 2nd season comes in with a lot of talent and an hype to ignore having them be a top team.
BYU Cougars Baylor and Oregon in their 1st 3 games will be a good test for returning QB and solid Oline.
Iowa Hawkeyes With Wake Forest dropped out of my poll, this could go to any combination of future 8-4 team. Iowa seems the safest pick to end the season ranked vs Ole Miss, Penn St and Tennessee.
