bretticus33 3 Alabama was extremely lucky to not leave DKR with a loss. Had Quinn Ewers played, I don't think Alabama would have won. Clearly not the #1 team in the country and despite the talent, has some work to do. BOB needs to work on calling an offense that doesn't rely on Young making plays to save the offense and the whole team needs to work on discipline.

eclectic_tastes 3 Struggled between #2 and #3, but ended up switching it to OSU after re-watching the Alabama-Texas game. Texas was a top-10 team coming in for me, so it is still an impressive win, but I'm not so sure they would have won without an injury to Ewers. Offense has some serious issues to fix.

MWiatrak2077 3 There can be two truths: Texas looked fantastic, Alabama played like shit. They came into this media-hyped matchup as overwhelming 20pt favorites on the road, and came out limping. It could be early season rust, but Bryce Young looked particularly shaken, as did the entire offense. The Alabama defense did manage to hold Texas to a respectably low amount of scoring. Despite this, Quinn Ewers looked fantastic against their Secondary, prior to going down due to injury. During a scoring drought from Alabama, that lasted between 2:34 in the first quarter, to 8:29 in the fourth, the defense managed to stop Texas from converting redzone opportunities into touchdowns on several occasions, which, despite their offensive struggles, was very impressive. Shoddy officiating led to a Texas Safety that would've given Texas a 12-10 lead at halftime was reversed, and could've potentially changed the margin of this game. Alabama did an impressive drive across the field to retake a 21-19 lead with :00 left on the clock, however, I would argue that it never should have been that close at all. Overall, C- performance from an overwhelming favorite. However, on this Saturday, it could've been worse.

nw____ 3 Bama won but both their offensive and defensive lines looked... bad. Texas' offensive line is not very good but made Bama's defensive line look very meh at times. The defensive backs looked bad at times, though Texas does have fantastic receivers. Bama's receivers... may be a problem. I think they would've lost if Ewers hadn't gotten hurt. Their win over Utah State looks worse now, too. Do they deserve to be #3? Not sure, but I am willing to let the schedule play itself out without giving Bama the benefit of the doubt for a very sloppy performance.
NyquillusDillwad20 3
Our-Gardian-Angel 3 Alabama is still Alabama and I'm sure they'll be just fine and do no worse than 11-1 during the regular season, but I would not want to be one of their players at practice this week. (Week 2: Alabama 20, Texas 19; Record: 2-0)
outthawazoo 3
peachios 3 really struggled against texas, probably got bailed out too, but seems fine to stay with a win. next week is when stuff really will be all based on this year maybe

crownebeach 4 Alabama clearly outclassed Texas physically on both sides of the ball, but Texas deserves credit for an excellent offensive gameplan that took advantage of Bama's DBs -- that seems to be clearly the weakest unit for the Tide. Teams with better DL play (hi, Texas A&M) are potentially going to give Bama a lot of issues.

Due_Connection179 1 Keeping Alabama #1 was tough. They probably lose against Texas if Texas doesn't have two or three key injuries, but Alabama did survive and until they actually lose they will be top 4 regardless, so I'm going to roll with my pre-season Champion at #1.

Dontworryaboutit1 15 very bad officiating on multiple key calls that had a clear impact on the score in a game that was ultimately decided by a single point (face mask on Robinson in the red zone that should've been first and goal from the 5, blatant PI on Sanders in the endzone on third down, major offensive hold on Young's 19 yard run to set up the game winning kick, over-the-back PI on Worthy). not considering that play on Young in the end zone because it was close enough in real time to go either way. perhaps the most consequentially bad officiating i can recall watching. this poll is not making the same mistakes as the officials and is treating that game as an alabama loss.
