MrOrcaDood Ballot for 2022 Week 3

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 11, 2022, 9:37 a.m.

Overall Rationale: no real methodology just who I think is best, tried my best to give explanations for everyone

Rank Team Reason
Georgia Bulldogs Most complete team at the moment, although nothing was really shown this week.
Michigan Wolverines They haven't played anyone, but their team looks very strong with JJ at the helm. On a collision course with tOSU in November.
Alabama Crimson Tide Really should have lost to Texas, and I considered moving them down further, but Saban will clean up the undisciplined, sloppy play in time for them to go 12-0 again.
Ohio State Buckeyes Stumbled out of the gate against Arkansas St, but they have sky-high potential once JSN comes back. As of now, however, I wouldn't take them over any of the top 3.
Clemson Tigers Clear step down from the top 4. Mostly just putting them here because of the talent they have and possible potential with Klubnik as starter.
Oklahoma Sooners Looked very wobbly against a bad Kent State team. Will probably not stay here for much longer.
USC Trojans Win over Stanford was not as close as the score indicates. Will probably have one of the most explosive offenses in the country before getting blanked by Georgia in the CFP.
Kentucky Wildcats Impressive, tough win over Florida. Would like to see a bit more out of Levis, but they could be 9-1 or 10-0 when they host Georgia.
BYU Cougars Strong win over Baylor, their defense clutched up when it mattered. Better resume then most teams below them.
Arkansas Razorbacks Two quality wins and absolutely ran the ball down South Carolina's throats. Tough stretch coming up after one more tune-up game.
Utah Utes Guys I think they were a little angry after last week. No shame in losing in the Swamp, still think they have a high ceiling. Beat USC please.
Michigan State Spartans Did what was expected against a terrible Akron team. Running game looks solid, passing game does not. Will need more than that to beat OSU and UM.
Oklahoma State Cowboys Haven't been following their games very closely, but ASU is a good win. Suspicious of their defense without Knowles still.
Tennessee Volunteers Strong win over Pitt despite averaging 2.6 yards per carry. Probably would have lost if they didn't injure Slovis.
Baylor Bears Quality Loss to BYU courtesy of an offensive implosion. Would like to see more out of everything on that side of the ball.
Texas Longhorns Quality Loss to Bama that they should have won if a hundred different things went their way. Probably were underrating them in preseason based on how bad they did last year.
North Carolina Tar Heels They've had two struggle wins, but the App State win looks a lot better in hindsight. ND game is winnable, but their defense needs to shore up against a subpar offense.
Appalachian State Mountaineers Took A&M's win, their Gameday, and their lunch/NIL money. Absolute chads.
Florida Gators Tough loss to Kentucky. Not really sure what to make of this team, but Richardson doesn't look like the Heisman contender I was promised.
Washington State Cougars Good win over Wisconsin despite only rushing for 53 yards. Mostly in on resume.
Marshall Thundering Herd Exposed Notre Dame's run defense and putrid offense. Have nothing tough until Coastal a lot later on.
Minnesota Golden Gophers Looking like the favorites in the B1G West. Will beat up Colorado next week, then the MSU game should tell us a lot about who they are.
Maryland Terrapins Taulia winning another September Heisman, looking great against Charlotte. Will reserve judgments for when they play Michigan in two weeks.
Miami Hurricanes Looked generally unimpressive against a Southern Miss team that lost to Liberty.
Pittsburgh Panthers Probably still undefeated if Slovis didn't get injured. Still a solid team.
