PSUMediaPA Ballot for 2022 Week 3

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Sept. 11, 2022, 10:27 a.m.

Overall Rationale: This is a week to remember for College Football as 3 AP Top 10 teams went down and 7 Top 25 teams lost.

Rank Team Reason
Georgia Bulldogs Had an impressive win last week and this week they followed up with another clean win.
Ohio State Buckeyes Although they scored a lot of points, Arkansas State managed to drive down the field several times. They only got 4 field goals, if one or two of those had been touchdowns instead I might have to drop them a bit further.
Alabama Crimson Tide Near loss to Texas puts the Tide back a few spots.
Oklahoma State Cowboys Their win over ASU gives them a P5 non-conference win.
Oklahoma Sooners Started out slow with Kent State. A win's a win but the offense needs to work out a few bugs.
Clemson Tigers Similar to Ohio State. Clemson let Furman get down the field and get into the end zone once, along with two other drives. I'm moving them back one space.
Michigan Wolverines They annihilated Hawaii. Although they could've kept the Rainbow Warriors out of the end zone a few teams previously ahead of them have dropped. Therefore, they rise to #7.
Kentucky Wildcats A solid win over Florida after the Gators got a signature win over Utah. It warrants a Top 10 ranking.
Ole Miss Rebels A better game against the Sugar Bears allows them to move up a slot to #9.
USC Trojans I originally didn't rank them because I didn't see the hype until now. The dismantling of Stanford puts them at #10 in my poll.
Arkansas Razorbacks Defeating the Gamecocks gets them just outside the Top 10 looking in.
Michigan State Spartans A clean shutout and blowout of Akron despite the Zips getting down the field a few times. The Washington road game will be their first true test.
BYU Cougars Defeating Baylor is no small feat, they jump into my poll at #14. Baylor will be looking for revenge next season.
NC State Wolfpack Idle
Baylor Bears An OT road loss doesn't take them out of playoff contention, but they do need to run the table.
Wake Forest Demon Deacons Defeated a renewed Vanderbilt team with room to spare.
Tennessee Volunteers They managed to grab victory out of the jaws of defeat. Great win for Tennessee after losing to Pitt at home last season.
Miami Hurricanes They played one of the Sunbelt's easier opponents in Southern Mississippi and handled them decently.
Penn State Nittany Lions I'm starting to see the run game doing better for the Lions and they have two very good back-up QBs for Clifford. The Lions look to be back to the 2019 form with a decent run game. They move up 5 spots.
Florida Gators A win over Utah saves them from a quick exit. Florida won't look past the Wildcats next season.
Appalachian State Mountaineers A heartbreaking loss to North Carolina is followed up with a massive win over Texas A&M. Despite the UNC loss they are likely the favorites after BYU for the NY6 group of 5 vs. P5 game.
Texas A&M Aggies Appalachian State's crazy loss last week should have given the Aggies time to prepare. Now they have to run the table to get to the playoff.
Washington State Cougars A road win over the favorite for the Big Ten West? That catapults you into the Top 25 in my poll. WSU is a sleeper team for the PAC-12 title this season.
Florida State Seminoles Idle due to a Sunday win last week.
Marshall Thundering Herd Defeating Notre Dame on the road is no small feat. They join Appalachian State in the rankings.
