Ho hum just another double digit victory against a top 10 team. Honestly the victory showed that Bama is, once again, the best team in the country but they aren't unbeatable. For now, and for the foreseeable future, the number one spot on the ballot is Bama's. |

1st poll for the season from me, since I use preseason as an expectation poll. Going to do reasons for top 10 this year.Alabama is the clear #1 after that performance last week. While I could see preseason explanations for about half a dozen teams over them, the first week of football made it clear that there is 1 team to beat right now: Alabama. The offense was surprisingly decent against a dominant FSU defense. In particular their ball control was impressive, and while they might not have put up 24 without those FSU turnovers, they made it count when they needed. RB is deep, a reliable QB, fantastic O-line and what appears to be another great WR make them a team to be reckoned with. As the season goes on, I think the biggest question mark might be play calling. There were a handful of interesting decisions on 3rd down in the game, they only went 3-16 on 3rd down. However, it's hard to know if this is just an anmoly due to new play calling with Kiffin gone + FSU having a top 5 defense. |

The offense didn't look sharp against #3 Florida State, but the defense shined and the Tide rolled to a quality win against the Noles to open the season. Can't place them anywhere else besides at the top.  |

Obvious, their defense was absolutely dominate.  Their offense looked a little lack luster but their defense and special teams will more than cover for it. |

Alabama controlled the second half against a mostly whole Florida State. They have the strongest win of the first week of the season. |

If you wanna beat the Tide, you need your A++ game on offense, defense, and special teams. Saban's pact with the devil stipulates he can't recruit decent kickers, but it sure as hell doesn't say anything about recruiting elite kick blockers |

Do I really have to have a reason for ranking Alabama this high? They were coming into the season #1 and they defeated FSU in a top-5 matchup. They're staying put.I will point out that they need to capitalize on opportunities more on offense. Not every team will turnover the ball so many times in their own territory. Maybe this just speaks more to how great FSU's defense was. |

Alabama looks like Alabama. Like usual. The reason I left FSU out was because they lost their star QB and will be starting a true freshman (I believe). This changes how I view them until I see them play another game or two |

Beating Florida State is no easy task, but Alabama made it look mighty close with a dominant 24-7 win.  Forcing 4 turnovers, Alabama can lean on their defense as they usually do, even if Jalen Hurts CAN throw the ball downfield a little bit this year |

(0) 24-7 over previous #3 FSU. Bama's always beating good teams and yet they rarely ever rise in the rankings. If only they could get some respect. Some season ending injuries on the defensive side are going to hurt, but something tells me they have the talent to make up for it. |

Defense and special teams good, still some questions on offense. They were clearly in control of the game with a solid opponent though, so they deserve #1. |

Alabama had a chance to take the top spot in the rankings if only their passing game had been a little stronger. Jalen Hurts did well enough, seeing as he may have been facing the best secondary in the nation, but there may come a time this season when he is forced to win a game through the air. He hasn't proven to me that he can take over a game with his arm, so for now the Crimson Tide remain at #2. |
