stripes361 8 As a whole, Louisville played a better game against Purdue than the 35-28 final scoreline would indicate. Lamar Jackson completed 65% of his passes en route to finishing with 378 passing yards and ran for over 100 on the ground. We've become inured to such gaudy statlines from the defending Heisman Trophy winner to the point where we may even start to underrate his play. Meanwhile, the Cardinals held Jeff Brohm's high-powered attack to 344 yards of total offense. Purdue has talent on that side of the ball and Coach Brohm will utilize it much better than his predecessor did. I expect this game is more of a positive sign for Purdue than a negative one for Louisville. If Bobby Petrino's squad struggles against UNC this week, then I will think of dropping them outside the Top 10.
Ticklebump 8 Lamar was grinding. Purdue is a lot better than I expected. I'm going to enjoy Louisville challenging for first in the Atlantic.

T-Thugs 10 Purdue looked like they might actually have a pulse this year. If they end up winning some games, this could be a decent win for Louisville. I didn't rank them higher because Purdue was one of the absolute worst P5 schools last year. Hard to know what that game is worth yet.

Bill3ffinMurray 14 Hard to drop a team for winning against a P5 opponent, especially a Purdue team that came to play. One of the more surprising results of Week 1 saw Louisville scrape by the Boilermakers. A good showing for the Cardinals offense powered by returning Heisman winner Lamar Jackson.

GilBrandt 15 This is a confusing one. I feel like Louisville could be ranked a couple spots higher from Lamar alone, but it was a close win over Purdue. Is Purdue a better team this season? Maybe. Time will tell if this is a impressive win or not.
JCiLee 15
jmac_21 15 Louisville really struggled with Purdue, but the Cardinals still have their Heisman winning QB, and he is still clutch.

TaylorLeprechaun 15 -1: Lamar Jackson showed off his Heisman winning skill once again.  It seemed like once again it was him trying to drag his team to a W with their performance against the Purdue Spoilermakers.  Time will tell if the rest of the team can keep up with him.

Cobainism 16 Purdue HC  showed why Boilmaker fans are finally excited about football again, as his squad elevated their game above their actual talent level vs. the Cardinals. Yes, Louisville won, but they have issues they need to fix ASAP -- penalties and failing to protect the football. Reigning Heisman Trophy winner QB Lamar Jackson had a good day; watch him have a field day vs North Carolina's defense next week

BamaPride95 18
beerslingerjay 18 They didn't look to great, but a win is a win... I guess? Lamar Jackson is still the best player in CFB, but literally everyone else around him needs to pick it up if they're going to contend with FSU and Clemson in the ACC. With a performance like this past one, don't be surprised if UNC knocks them out before Clemson or FSU has a chance to.
bties 18
corundum9 18 Starting to think that Louisville might even be overrated here at 18. Purdue is an improved team, but that should have been a runaway game in the third quarter for a team like Louisville. If they struggle again v UNC, I'll most likely be dropping Louisville into the 20s.

bluegrassborn 19 Is Jeff Brohm using dark magic to make Purdue a respectable opponent? Is Louisville just overrated this year, which showed against an actually bad Purdue team? Would Louisville really be ranked if Lamar Jackson wasn't on the team?

Extra_Excrement 19 They nearly stumbled against Purdue but they still have the talent to win some big games and maybe upset one of FSU and Clemson. Fumbling twice deep in Purdue territory, numerous penalties, and losing Jaire Alexander certainly didn't help. Fortunately is sounds like Alexander avoided a major injury. I feel like people have already forgotten about Lamar Jackson? When you have a clutch QB you can squeak out of ugly games and still have a shot at winning bigger ones.

hokies220 19 Well Lamar Jackson is still amazing. The rest of the team maybe not so much.

Knightro2011 20
mellolizard 20
Nathanael-Greene 20 Though they won Saturday, a one-score win over Purdue isn't all that impressive, especially for a team with a returning Heisman winner. Louisville will need to improve a lot if they want to win the ACC Atlantic this season.

BosskOnASegway 22 Is Purdue good? No, probably not.  Is Louisville good?  No probably not, but they won and they have the reigning Heisman champion so they stay. Their defense is bottom tier and their offense is one dimensional.  Lamar Jackson isn't going to be good enough to bail them out against even average teams. I almost expect a lose at UNC, but we shall see.

WhiteBaseCoat 22 I'm assuming that by this point you've ignored my wishes and looked at my preseason poll, and so you'll know that I was super-super-super high on Louisville. I have come to understand that this was probably a mistake. Did they deserve to drop this far for struggling with Purdue? Maybe not. I tend to think that Jeff Brohm knows what he's doing. However, he's doing it with Purdue. Thus, I've sent Louisville to the meaningless dungeon that is the 20's.
