Despite being #25 in the AP poll, everyone counted out Louisville against Notre Dame. Yet their defense shut down the Irish and they scored 30 themselves for one of this season’s most impressive wins.

No one, not even Louisville fans, would've said that the Cardinal would win because their defense was amazing this weekend, but they showed out and if they can put it together on both-sides of the ball like this for every big game then they could be dangerous moving forward. Allowed just 2 FGs and 49 total yards between the start of the 3rd quarter until the 4th quarter with just 3:12 remaining in the game. I debated putting them over Texas, but with 3 games against (current) ranked teams remaining, if the Cardinal keep winning then they will keep moving up and eventually jump the Longhorns.


Next Week at Pitt ( 7.5 pt favorites ) Prediction - wins but doesn't cover the spread (Pitt is weird like that)

They're 6-0 with 5 P5 wins and beat Notre Dame solidly. They're not too far off from being 3-3 either, and I still don't buy them as ACC contenders

Beating Notre Dame like that makes them look a lot more legit. I still don't trust them after that NC State game but at least for now they deserve to be up here.

A convincing win over Notre Dame lands Louisville at 10. It is very likely that they would not be this high if not for the ranks of 10-20 self-destructing this weekend.

Louisville and ND essentially switch spots from last week. Louisville has still had their struggles this year at times, but they looked like an ACC contender taking down ND. We'll see how the Cardinals handle the increased weight of expectations.

Excellent win over Notre Dame and they could be a threat to Florida State if they keep this up (+8)

Undefeated Louisville is scary, and this time it looks to be a very team-centered push rather than having an offense built around a Heisman candidate. This team is smart and knows how to play, but their strength of conference schedule appears to be lacking. I think they may be hitting their ceiling, but teams in front of them could always mess up. Additionally, if they make it to the ACC title game, the outcome of that could seriously leapfrog them over a lot of other teams depending on how other seasons shake out.
