FlashSpider-man Ballot for 2023 Week 7

Ballot Type: Human

Submitted: Oct. 8, 2023, 12:21 p.m.

Overall Rationale: My opinion, mostly. Bias: I go to Tamu and grew up an ASU fan. I try to base off results, not preconceived talent, though I can fall for it. Trying to put a weight on wins, though it can be hard in some cases. And I don't know g5, so I am not gonna put any on this list. Feel free to @ me on reddit, I'd love to talk about it.

Rank Team Reason
Georgia Bulldogs They finally looked good. Destroyed UK.
Michigan Wolverines
Ohio State Buckeyes
Washington Huskies Big game next week, gonna be fun.
Penn State Nittany Lions
Florida State Seminoles
Oklahoma Sooners Good win in a big game. Thank you.
Oregon Ducks
Texas Longhorns Lost to a good OU team. They look like the best team with a loss so far. But there are several very good undefeated teams that should be above them for now. Haha
North Carolina Tar Heels They dominated again. They have bounced back from early struggles against teams like App State. Deserve a top 10 spot
USC Trojans For the third week in a row, they win in a game that was closer than it should have been. First, they take too long to put away a very bad ASU team, then they let CU back into the game, then they go to overtime with u of a. Their defense looks bad and their play looks bad. But, at the end of the day, they are undefeated.
Alabama Crimson Tide Man :( . They played bad but still won. They couldn't run the ball, dropped a bunch of passes, and committed penalties. Yet they still won. They found the two weaknesses of the opponent and exploited them, a bad oline and secondary. We in the crowd did our part, I'd like to think, causing so many false starts(whether it was us or not, I'm taking the credit). And the defense even gave us a chance. But the Bama d line dominated, we couldn't score from the two, and for some reason I don't understand, took a field goal when the best hope was to get the game down to one play further from the end zone than we currently were. Damn it. Now they are in the driver's seat for the west, and our year is likely over. Disappointing. I do feel Milroe looked better at throwing than he has in the past, but I guess it's a lot easier when most of your targets are 10 yards from the nearest defender or something. (Side note: thanks Dodgers for saving the day from just sadness. Everyone else was so happy when Rangers and Astros updates were announced. I'm glad get some happiness myself, with my team beating my least favorite team :) )
Ole Miss Rebels Yes, they lost to Bama. But I still think they are a really good team. And this is where we get into difficult territory. Almost all of the teams from here on out could be anywhere in this region. It's so close imi
Washington State Cougars Dread it,
Oregon State Beavers Run from it,
Miami Hurricanes You lost to Haynes King? Lol. Or maybe he's better. Has he learned how to throw a spiral? Or what double coverage is and why you don't want to throw into it? But good for GT. Embarrassing way to lose for Miami
Louisville Cardinals The lowest undefeated p5 team. They have won, yes, but haven't looked good. That was a good win against the first good opponent they have faced. But they have struggled in their other games, including only beating an awful IU team by one score.
Utah Utes Pac 12 cannibalism
UCLA Bruins Arrives none the less. 1/3 of the Pac, 4-7 in rankings, have completed a miniture circle of suck already. As their only losses. Huh? Idk how to rank them. Or anyone, for that matter. I think the top 7 in the Pac are all really good this year.
Notre Dame Fighting Irish The highest two loss team. I didn't want to put them too high due to already losing twice. It's hard to rank quality losses against meh wins. But I'm trying to weigh wins better. Though credit to ND for making such a tough schedule, facing both OSU and USC this year, along with a tough ACC they are half in.
Duke Blue Devils They didn't play well in the ND losses and now they've had a week to stew on it, while ND loses again.
LSU Tigers Another 2 loss team. I didn't want to put them but I don't feel any other 1 loss team stands out. They have lost to very good teams, playing Ole Miss very close and beating a pretty good Mizzou team. I think the list gets a lot worse after them.
West Virginia Mountaineers All their wins have been close, yes, but TTU and TCU have looked like teams and actually competed against decent teams. Which is more than you can say about teams like MSU, UVA, and IU. That is why WVU made the list over Maryland.
Wisconsin Badgers They haven't really done much but idk who else to put. A g5 team probably deserves it but I know nothing about them or who they face. And Wisconsin has won two conference games straight, one of which being against a decent Rutgers team? I almost put KU. Maybe they deserved it more? Neither team has beaten anyone good.
Kentucky Wildcats Ok, I know they just got smoked by UGA, bit tbf that is the team who is supposed to be the best this year. I know UGA has struggled, but they are the type of team who is likely to figure it out. Maybe they have done it. If they struggle again soon, maybe UK will drop. But, for now, they have the advantage of having beating UF, who at least is an actual team and has managed to beat UT. I stand by this sets them above the likes of Maryland, KU, and UT. (I don't like using transitive logic, cause it's dumb for this, but when the only other decent team either of you have faced is the same one, there isn't really much of an option.) And I don't get why I'd rank UT. They have played no one. UVA looks awful. I guess SC is a good win, but not as good as UF. I'm expecting them to be ranked, as they were last week, but I don't get why. But when they beat us and I cry myself to sleep Saturday, I'll rank them.
