A dominant defense that ranks amongst the best in the country. However, the offense needs something to kickstart it this year. There were issues almost everywhere on offense last year, from the OL to the WRs and especially the QB, if they want to be a playoff team this year then this offense will need to be better. |

The hope for Clemson is they don't have the same injury issues that plagued them last season. Assuming they don't, the defense will be one of the country's best. DJ Uiagaleilei needs to step up and play better for Clemson to make a serious run. |

I'll be shocked if Clemson goes 2 years in a row without winning the ACC. If their offense is even just a little bit better, they should be back in the CFP. |

I half want to pick Clemson to win the title because I think this team is going to play angry all year. Last year was a disappointment, and they have the talent to do better than 10-3. This is at worst, the 2nd best defense in college football in 2022. IMO, this is the 2nd best defensive unit Clemson has had under Swinney. The DLine is loaded, with Bryan Breese being the main headliner. There are 4-5 guys who will be playing on Sundays in the rotation, and that will give the other units on this defense time to grow. There's massive recruiting talent at DB and LB that Clemson just hasn't had til recently, and by the end of the season will be household names in the ACC. It's the offense that prevents this team from being obvious title contenders. DJ was horrendous after some good moments his freshman year. The WRs for the Tigers were pitiful, and the running game was completely unreliable. You just have to hope last year was due to some real inexperience at the skill positions and that these guys will all improve next year. The OL is solid, and even a serviceable offense will be good enough to compete for a title. If DJ or Klubnik is a real star, they vault back in the category of title frontrunners. |

If they can manage even below average (rather than completely awful) QB play, they'll be my favorite to win the ACC. Interested to see how the loss of Venables affects them but I have a lot of faith in Goodwin. Losing Tony Elliott as OC may have actually been a pretty good thing, IMO. |

Expect last year to be more of a blip. The main thing to watch here is how the new staff steps up. |

Beta_Rank has Clemson at number 4, which does feel high but I don't see a compelling option to put ahead of them. Defense will be stout as always, just need to get some better production from the QB position. |

Clemson, like every team in my top 5, has a fearsome defensive line that can take them far. Their QB issues last year will probably get better; either DJ improves or Klubnik will take the offense to another level. Interested to see how the coaching changes play out; not something we've seen much from Clemson. |

Great season (especially the back half) and a lot return; fairly lucky (5-2 in one possession games); lost both OC and DC; excellent recruiting. I don't entirely believe in Clemson given their coaching losses, but it's hard to bet against Dabo. |

Scary pick for me. Can they recover from last year after a staff makeover? If they do they’ll be much higher, if they don’t they’ll be sneaking in this poll at all. I don’t think we’ll know much until the NCSU game Week 5, which will decide the Atlantic, probably the ACC, and be must watch TV. |

Strangely, Clemson won't actually lose until the last week of the regular season. DJ Uiagalelei's "hard work beats talent" offense will bail out their "talent doesn't work hard" defense, looking eerily like Oklahoma in the Mike Stoops years. Then will come the soul-crushing loss to South Carolina, followed by a conference title game loss to North Carolina. They'll draw Cincinnati in the NY6 roulette, and remind them why they aren't in a power conference. |

They are returning a lot of players and finished the season really strong last year. But they keep losing assistant coaches to other teams. We saw this with the offense last year and they’re having to replace the DC this year. |

I'll admit, I'm a Clemson fan. Which is why I'm tough on the Tigers this season. DJU did nothing to give me confidence and I'm more intrigued by Klubnik at this point.
But the obvious story-line here is Dabo without Venables or Elliott. I don't think Elliott is a big loss, but Venables, wow. That one could smart. That's why I have Clemson lower than most. I think they'll be great sure. But I also believe the Golden Era of national titles has likely passed. |

Last year was a down year for Clemson, but they never stay down for too long with their recruiting ability. I strongly considered moving them a little bit higher given their recruiting and returning production, but something just didn't seem right last year, and it remains to be seen how losing one of their rocks in Venables hurts the team |

111.6 points -> Bowl Lock. Underwhelming season last year, but every possibility of climbing back to the top echelons. |
