Still the reigning champ. Will be #1 until I'm shown a reason for them not to be. My model actually has Clemson at #2, so this is a manual override. |

Alabama definitely played a better opponent and you can only learn so much from Kent State, but this is still the reigning champion and they did exactly what you need to do against a weaker opponent. Excited for Auburn |

Kelly Bryant is still relatively unknown but early signs look promising. The defense is a known commodity and will be enough to carry the offense through early growing pains if there are any. Their defensive line is especially ferocious and should propel them through the ACC conference slate. Now that Francois has unfortunately been lost for the season, Clemson becomes the clear favorite to win the conference and snag a spot in the playoffs. |

The big question mark this game was quarterback for clemson, and Kelly Bryant seems to have rectified those concerns.  Although no powerhouse, Kent State was dealt with very easily by Clemson, a very different story than last year's game against Troy. |

Looked dominant, even with a new QB. I know it's Kent State, but a 53 point MOV is outstanding for the defending champs. |

Played well against an overmatched team. We'll see if the offense truly is just reloading against Auburn's D. |

I think everyone's biggest question surrounding the Hillrunners (way better name than Tigers by the by) was how they would cope without their all world QB. Kelly Bryant looked great against an over matched Kent State. If Bryant gains poise in the pocket, they are my Atlantic Division front runners. |

The biggest question mark I had going into the season for them was how they were going to replace Deshaun Watson. Kelly Bryant looked the part against what is probably the worst team in the MAC but the offense did enough to bolster my confidence in them and bump them up into the Bama/OSU territory atop the college football world. Big test next week as they host Auburn. |

Didn't get a chance to watch the game, but from highlights/stats it looks like they came out flying. Like Michigan, I think they'll be fine despite losing a lot of talent due to great recruiting and coaching. Nothing to do with ranking them #3, but after week 1 they're clear favorites for the ACC. |

Coming into the season, the only thing keeping me from returning Clemson to the #1 spot in my mind was questions at QB.  They have been answered at least on some level in my mind, but we will see if it sticks next week. |

The exodus of Deshaun Watson and other NFL talent seems to have been replenished with other excellent players as Clemson looked more or less flawless. Although the opponent was one it was expected to destroy, their play must be reassuring to fans of Clemson. Especially with Deondre Francois out for FSU, it seems likely that Clemson might lead the ACC again. |

Clemson performed very well against Kent State, Kelly Bryant has taken up the mantle of starting QB and exceeded most people's expectations. With FSU losing Francios and Clemson reloading well from the loss of their best QB in school history, they now take over as the best team in the ACC. |

Clemson jumps 16 spots for 2 reasons. 1. They look a lot like last year's team. 2. Everyone else in the ACC has some pretty glaring concerns after one game.  |

Clemson's chances at a third straight ACC title increased after the FSU - Alabama game. Bryant seem to be a solid QB after one game but we'll see how he performs against tougher defenses (VT and FSU). Speaking of defense, Clemson's is what will truly win them games. I'm a Wilkins fan. |

The defending national champs move up to #5 in the rankings behind a solid performance against Kent State. No better way to ease in a new QB than by playing a weaker opponent (sorry Kent State fans).. A fascinating matchup against #16 Auburn looms large.  |

Third time's the charm, no quips and qualms about Clemson's performance vs. our Dark Lord's alma mater. QB Kelly Bryant exhibited no jitters as he was on point all afternoon with his receivers. Look out for true freshman RB Travis Etienne to burst into the national spotlight vs. rival Auburn next week |

Clemson held off a strong charge from Penn State and Auburn to take the #5 spot in this week's poll. Kelly Bryant seamlessly stepped into Deshaun Watson's role as the Tigers outgained their MAC opponent 665-120 on the day. |

I purchased a PS3 over the summer to catch up on a bunch of old games that I never played, and that included NCAA 14. I started off as Georgia's defensive coordinator, lost a heartbreaking national title to Ohio State in year 2 due to offensive ineptitude (gee, Georgia having a great DC and a woeful OC, where have I heard that before?), and took over Kent State. In year 3 as the head coach of the Golden Flashes, I played in this game, defeating #2 ranked Clemson 21-10 with my newly founded MAC powerhouse. That is not what happened this weekend. (I really want to end on that, but I feel that I should explain that the only reason Clemson isn't higher is because they have a freshman QB. That's pretty much it). |
