BYU had a pretty big f up this week in a loss to UCF which sucks for them but they've still got a really great resume with two impressive wins over Notre Dame (6-1) and Arizona (6-1). I had them as my #1 team prior to the loss, and I think it would be a little silly to drop them too far. I'm not sure they're actually as good as this ranking though.

This is where people are gonna be mad. Yeah UCF isn't a good loss but the pair of wins over ND and Arizona are VERY good for 1 loss team at this stage. As I said from the jump I respect top wins more than I hate bad losses. Last Week: #1

In yet another victim to one of the wildest seasons I can remember, the Cougars fell on the road in the Bounce House against a UCF team led by Scott Frost of all people (and yes, this *does* mean that Nebraska lost the bye week). I don't think this truly knocks them from having a shot to reclaim the #1 spot, but all of the sudden, it feels like the upcoming Holy War and a regular-season ending game against the Bearcats are that much more critical to emerge victorious from. Bear Bachmeier still looks like an incredible QB, the trenches are genuinely impressive, and their resume is still very solid... but no more hiccups like what occurred last weekend can be allowed.

Cougars...I truly believed you had the better overall resume than the Hurricanes (even with my reservations about a H2H), enough for me to pick you over them...why you do this to me? :'(

After an emotional win against Notre Dame the Cougars look pretty bad on the road against UCF ultimately losing in overtime. The refs had a rough game but BYU should not have let it get to that point. I am giving some grace to BYU here as I feel as though a perplexing loss is not uncommon after an emotional win but BYU is holding on by a thread here.

The Notre Dame win is a marquee result, and the broader resume is strong. The double-OT loss to UCF is a substantial negative, but it shouldn’t erase the quality of the Notre Dame victory.

BYU lost in overtime against UCF so they fall but not quite out of my Top 10 yet. The offense looked fine but didn't make the clutch plays and the defense could not handle the mobile QB from UCF.

A big upset against UCF (which I predicted) but BYU still beat Notre Dame. Every top team has their mistake and this was BYU's, but they can't let it happen again as they face Utah in a couple weeks.

Bad loss to UCF knocks them from #1. Still has a great win over ND and still only has one loss. This season, a lot of top ranked teams have questionable or bad losses. Below Georgia because the loss is worse, the wins are comparable, but the SEC is stronger overall.
