2 Ohio State Buckeyes No change due to bye week.
3 Indiana Hoosiers Move up 1 spot due to surviving at Michigan and BYU losing.
4 Notre Dame Fighting Irish Move up 1 spot as bye week boost from BYU losing.
5 Georgia Bulldogs Move up 1 spot as bye week boost from BYU losing.
6 Utah Utes Utah picks up a huge win against Houston. Knocking on the door of top 5.
7 UCLA Bruins UCLA remains undefeated and solidifies a spot in top 10.
8 BYU Cougars Too much celebrating last week must have made them complacent this week. Cougars are lucky 2 other top ten teams lost or they would have slid further in my rankings.
9 Kentucky Wildcats UK sits at the top of the SEC standings. They move into the top 10 with yet another victory.
10 Texas Tech Red Raiders Texas Tech picks up their first loss of the season after getting handled on the road at Cincinnati. They remain top 10, but only just.
11 Texas Longhorns Both UT programs will be the most volatile in my rankings throughout the season. I’m just not sure what team shows up each week. With multiple wins over top 25 teams, Texas moves back up in the rankings.
12 Northwestern Wildcats Wildcats are winning games, this week in convincing fashion. They continue to move up.
13 Boise State Broncos Same as Northwestern above, the Broncos are winning games and lead the Pac-12.
14 Houston Cougars Houston only moves down 1 spot in my rankings. They played a tight game against Utah on the road and don’t deserve to be penalized too much for this.
15 Wake Forest Demon Deacons A couple teams above them in my rankings lost, Wake Forest gets bye week boost.
16 SMU Mustangs Mustangs win, other teams lose. SMU moves up a few spots.
17 Arizona Wildcats Wildcats win, other teams lose. They move up a few spots.
18 LSU Tigers LSU heeded the warning from Auburn’s big win over Georgia last week and took care of business.
19 Alabama Crimson Tide They went out and did what was expected - beat a sub par Aggies team.
20 Ole Miss Rebels The Rebels likely played their worst game of the season this week… and still had a chance to tie the game at the end. They remain in my top 20, but need to bounce back next game.
21 Tennessee Volunteers The other UT that’s hard to rank. Partially because one of their losses is to the Longhorns. The Vols drop after a tough loss to South Carolina, a team that has been primed to win a close game eventually.
22 Oklahoma State Cowboys OSU moves up after a blow out win.
23 Oregon State Beavers They rank 2nd in the PAC-12 and have a Heisman candidate in Jesse Legree. Both losses are to top-25 teams. They move into my top-25.
24 UTSA Roadrunners They lead the American conference with their only loss at Texas. They’ve played their way into my top 25.
25 New Mexico Lobos They’re leading the Mountain West conference with 1 loss to OU in a close game. They slide in to my top-25 too.
